About the Author

Dr. Beth Cabrera has spent the last 10 years focused on the issues of women’s careers and positive psychology in her roles as teacher, researcher, writer, and speaker. After finishing her Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology, she moved to Spain with her husband and earned tenure as a professor in the Business Department at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain. When she moved back to the United States, Dr. Cabrera became a professor at Arizona State University. After that she was a Senior Research Fellow at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Currently she is a Senior Scholar at the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being at George Mason University. She has an active speaking business through her company, Cabrera Insights. Dr. Cabrera has published over 30 articles (as E.F. Cabrera) in some of the world’s leading academic and professional journals. She regularly gives talks at companies and conferences on how to use positive psychology for greater success and well-being. At George Mason University, she is part of an initiative to create a well-being university by working to promote the science and practices that lead to a life of vitality, purpose, and resilience. As a working mother of two teenagers, Dr. Cabrera has personally experienced the challenges of combining motherhood with a professional career. And as the wife of a university president she also understands the complexities of being part of a dual-career couple. Dr. Cabrera currently resides in Fairfax, VA.
