About the Author

Born in Canada, Shukavak N. Dasa found an early interest in India and Hindu philosophy that led to a degree in Sanskrit literature, a Master's degree in Sanskrit grammar, and a Ph.D. in South Asian Studies from the University of Toronto. Shukavak regularly lectures on Hinduism and has been instrumental in developing Hindu Temples in the United States and Canada. Shukavak has performed thousands of Hindu weddings and other Hindu rituals in North America, Europe, and India.

My favourite translation and commentary yet. This is a very nice translation, thoughtfully done, with footnote annotations comparing interpretations from the commentaries of Śankara, Rāmānuja, and Madhava acharyas. It presents the english translation on the right-hand page while presenting the sanskrit and verse transliteration on the facing left-hand page. The translator's introduction, well balanced and clarifying, is reason alone to buy this book. It has become my favourite translation, and the one I read on a daily basis. Thomas H. Desouches
