I got this book as a gift from my hubby to help me in the kitchen. I have made a few recipes and they were bad. I can not find anything under 'Entrees' and always end up closing the book and going online for a recipe. I will be exchanging this book for Veganomicon. I have read so many wonderful reviews on it. Also PPK recipes have been AMAZING for me so far, so definitely do not waste your money on 'Big Vegan' and do your research. This book will end up sitting on your shelf without use.

This is a valuable addition to any vegan cookbook library. Contains a great variety of easy to follow recipes, and helpful information about following a healthful vegan diet.

I'm glad the other reviews have confirmed my suspicion that I am, in fact, not a bad cook, just taking bad advice. I've tried several of these dishes, despite my gut telling me the recipe looked all wrong, and ending up modifying it afterwards to make it tastier (it got kind of embarrassing a few times when I brought food over for pot lucks...  everybody's already wary of the vegan food, no need to give them another reason never to try it again). If you're crafty, you can take any of the delicious-sounding selections as inspiration to frankenstein your own recipe, but if you're a buy-the-book chef, I'd pick a different title.

I am not a very experienced cook, and I am newly vegan, so I purchased this book because it had a TON of recipes and by the titles they all looked delicious. I have to reiterate the fact that I am very inexperienced, so I really need a recipe book that has simple recipes that don't require so much planning and prep, and this is really not the book for me. The author was very thorough and has very creative recipes and ideas, but if you are anything like me, I would not recommend this recipe book to you. That being said, it is a great cookbook and I am going to keep it around for later on when I do have more experience, because the recipes really do look delicious!

Recipes range from bland to dry (certain noodle recipes) and boring. I've had to "fix" every recipe except one- the Herb Onion rolls were good. Save your money and get one of the countless other fabulous vegan cookbooks out there. You'll be glad you did.
