I had been taken Bikram classes for about 2 1/2 years before i actually broke down and got the book. It's totally only worth it if you just want to work on alignment and postures outside of class. If you have a healthy practice i would just stick with in class instruction.

When I first started using the book, I thought it was strange and took some time. However, within only three days I can already see a difference in my flexibility and physical ability. Although I am pretty sweaty and slightly tired after, I feel like a million bucks! This is definitely something to try. I don't think I've ever liked yoga this much before.

The book was recommended by a friend who has practiced this yoga for several years. Consequently, he has a perfectly chiseled body and boundless energy even at age 45. I have been practicing for about a week daily. I've lost noticable inches around my waist, toned up considerably and I feel energized, mobilized, oxygenated, even more at ease. Daily tasks that involve walking, bending, stretching, stooping are no longer burdensome. Bikram details not only the muscles, but organs benefited by these poses. Classmembers offer triumphant accounts of the first time they relaxed and achieved a pose to perfection. Anyone, even those who are sick or injured, can benefit from this yoga program. Many of these students came in with problems. I'm starting to understand how completely this yoga program treats the body in all aspects and can even prevent illness. Bikram says practicing every day for two months will transform your life. I'm giving it that chance. From what I've experienced so far, I believe it will.

I have a teacher that teaches from his book and at first I did not like the yoga poses that she taught, now I can't get enough. You really begin to see how much better you get with time and practice. I have found yoga to be very beneficial. Bikram is a pleasure to read and I like his realistic poses for the beginner.
