About the Author

Awarded the “Amplifying Black Women’s voices” award by New York Times Best Selling Author, Raymond Aaron, Dr. McCree is a Detroit native and health disparities researcher who has been working in various healthcare settings for more than a decade.

The award-winning author is a health disparities researcher, and her program of research examines the health care experiences, inequities, and social determinates that impact the health of Black, queer, young, cisgender women. Her research focuses on exploring the healthcare inequities they face and how these disparities contribute to delays in care and poor health outcomes to improve health trajectories for these women.

In this book, Dr. McCree draws upon her own experiences navigating predominantly White spaces to shed light on the challenges faced by Black women and girls in society. With a background in health education and behavioral health, she critically examines how these everyday experiences are internalized and may impact trajectories, always prioritizing optimal health. Her goal is to empower and assist Black women and girls in navigating the sometimes discriminatory encounters experienced by these women in White Spaces.

Her personal background as a Black American woman who grew up in an underserved community fuels her passion for improving the experiences of Black women. Driven by a commitment to amplify their voices in a society that often seeks to silence them, she finds immense joy in supporting other Black women and girls.
