About the Author

Richard W. Connelly, Sr. was born in New Haven, Connecticut and raised in a Catholic orphanage. Formally adopted at age six, he then lived in West Haven, a nearby small town on the Connecticut shoreline.

Excelling in sports, Richard later joined the U.S. Marines at age 17. All this time, he began asking questions: where did I come from, and who did I look like? Though he knew his adoptive parents cared for him, questions that seemed normal regarding Richard's beginnings had been received by them in the past as intrusive and outrageous. Whenever he asked, the threat of being returned to the Catholic orphanage was the reply.

After serving his country and returning to school, Richard rose in the ranks of industry and business to become the President and CEO of several biofuels and bi-fuels corporations. While raising a family and establishing a highly successful career, the questions about his biological parentage would continue to haunt him.

"In those years, I researched my roots to find where my life started, why I was placed in an orphanage, and who brought me into the world," he states. "I didn't ask for a smooth road, which was fortunate because I didn't get one. But the road I chose to walk was the right road."

A 25 year-plus Sterling graduate of the 12-Step Recovery Program, Connelly has served in various community service organizations, including the Veterans of Military Service, U.S. Jaycees and others. A world traveler, his interests include softball, tennis, swimming, billiards and golf. He now consults with corporations globally, supporting their efforts with international experience and exceptional business acumen.

Mr. Connelly is a resident of Denver, North Carolina.
