About the Author

Helen Pais is a creative animal lover who has text appeal and likes her puns intended. Helen has had the honour to share her life with parrots, mice, guinea pigs, cats, dogs, and horses. She got her first dog at the age of 11, sold to her as a pure pedigree, but the dog decided to grow into a mixture of many breeds and characters. That was the beginning of lifelong love, understanding, and a connection to dogs. Helen works as a Creative Director. When she's not walking her dog, riding her horse, or creating, you can find her on the beach reading a thesaurus and looking for inner peace. Indre Cukuraite is a London-based photographer, who has been inviting dogs to sit in her studio for the last three years. From early childhood she spent summers on her grandmother's farm, surrounded by animals. In her work, she aims to recreate the dynamic of the childhood relationship she had with dogs. Indre photographs them with dignity, by positioning them higher, and captures the human-like qualities in their body language and portrayal of emotions. The dogs stare through her camera lens directly into the viewer's eye with gentle authority, claiming to be an equal in their relationship with their human.
