This is a collection of stories about food insecurity, told by people experiencing it in Cortland County, in their own words. They talk about their struggles and successes with various agencies, the creative ways they've overcome obstacles, and how these issues affect every aspect of their life. Their backgrounds and life situations are different, but they all have one thing in common: they are your neighbors, your friends, and your family members. Together, we can destigmatize this issue, understand what our community needs, and work to improve the lives of everyone around us.

About the Author

Olivia is the Public Health AmeriCorps Project Assistant for our food systems work. Her work includes community health education, running the Hunger Coalition, sustaining the Storytelling program and the Cortland Food Project, and supporting efforts toward addressing local food insecurity. Olivia completed the interviews for our Storytelling project.
