Reviewed by Autumn (age 14) for Reader Views Kids (02/2020) “Britfield and The Lost Crown” is the first book in the Britfield Series by C.R. Stewart. I literally just finished the book and was so excited about it, I had to write my review right away. The story was everything the cover promised. I felt like I was in a kid’s version of Mission Impossible. I was on the edge of my seat with narrow escapes, daring plans and unexpected adversaries. The story begins in an awful gloomy orphanage where all the children can do is dream of escape. In a daring plan two friends, Tom and Sarah, figure out a way, with the help of the other children. And from that point on it is a fast-paced action adventure you can’t put down. I have never been so nervous for the characters in a book, because it seemed like whenever Tom and Sarah figured out a narrow escape they were put right back into danger. I loved all the characters in the book, but Tom and Sarah are amazing at thinking quick on their feet to avoid being caught. The way the storyline was so entertaining I hardly realized I was nearing the end of the book, I was too absorbed in the thrill of the chase. The only issue I had with the book was I have to wait till fall for the next book in the series to come out, as it was a definite cliff hanger ending. I have so many favorite parts in the book it is hard to pick just one. I also want to add that the maps in the front of the book were great when tracking where Tom and Sarah were heading and how far they had to go. I really liked how the author made you feel like you were right there in London or flying over a small village as you look at the beautiful scenery. After finishing the story, I liked looking back and remembering how far Tom and Sarah had come, the shocking truths they had learned and the new friends they made. And I am looking forward to finding out what is in store for them next. “Britfield and The Lost Crown,” by C.R. Stewart is an amazing adventure that holds all kinds of surprises, and well worth reading.

It’s a WOW book, I know this book is aiming a middle grade readers but I enjoyed it thoroughly!! My favorite part was whenever they planned for their great escape plan, how all of the orphans teamed up only just wants to buy some time for Tom and Sarah, I honestly clapped and thrilled while reading this chapter. The entire story is heart-stopping surprises, English history part is fascinating (I’ve always wanted to visit England, someday I will), clear dialogues, liked the plot, adventures theme background along the story. The characters showed their brave charisma, clear dialogue, provides fully devotion of Tom and Sarah Again, I read this together with my 4th grade son and we both enjoyed it together. His favorite part was when Mr. & Mrs. Grievous been captured by the police, “they’re so mean, they’ve deserved it” that was his first opinion when finished reading this book. Highly recommend for middle grade readers, and we’re excited that the adventures will continue in the next book.
