Overview

The purpose of this book is to assist family and owner managed businesses to succeed. The definition of success can range from simple survival to empirical growth, depending upon the aims and aspirations of the owners. Some family business only want to achieve a limited level of growth and profitability sufficient to maintain a defined or aspired lifestyle and often with minimal risk.  What most family businesses don't want to do is build a business with a view to a potential exit. It is usually not the first thing on their mind at the time of foundation. This generally only happens further down the line if a successor cannot be found from within the family. Families in business tend to be in for the long haul rather than the short haul. So, this book is about making your family business successful in terms of performance, growth and business continuity and how management and family can ensure success in these areas.
