Overview

Buttered Toast a monologue for an actress over forty.
It is in two acts and features a middle class mother from Hampshire, in England. Terrified at the possibility of losing her husband, she is overwhelmed by aspects affecting her eldest son, and her other two children no longer need her help, yet somehow they rob her of her self esteem. Her eldest son gives her a laptop and she finds the means to surprise all of them, by researching aspects of long forgotten relatives, which reflect present day events. Against all of these issues, her husband's disinterest in her is challenged.
