Can I Speak!?!: My Son, Twin, Prince and King
My name is Vanesia Rosa'n Johnson, Thompson, and I am a mother of five and a grandmother of three at this present time. Most of all, I am a child of God that enjoys encouraging others that have gone through the obstacles that he has blessed me through. I have experienced losing family members to the prison system since I was in the sixth grade. My mother never let me know my biological father. I remember her showing me in the newspaper that he was sentenced to prison. By the time that we united for the first time, I was grown with three kids and he had served several more sentences state and federal. This time he returned home and we linked up. He told me stories how eighty to ninety percent of his brothers and my grandfather were felons from the state and federal penitentiaries. When I experienced receiving my own TDC number and my brother serving a life sentence and soon after I was released, my son had gotten incarcerated and serving a twenty five sentence right now, aroused my spiritual antennas, realizing that this was a generational curse along with bad choices. Then as I got older, my mother told me that I received more prison mail than I received free world phone calls to our home phone. I would laugh and eventually realized that it was true. Over the years, more and more of my loved ones or close associates were getting incarcerated. Through it all, God has blessed me with testimonies that can encourage others. I named this book after my son that is in prison. "My son, Twin, Prince and King" Dezmond is my first born son on January 18th and mine is January 19th, which is why I said son and twin. I raised my sons and daughter as prince and princesses, growing into queens and kings. While in prison, we all found out that one of his gifts is rapping. That gift comes from me because all of my children rap. The beginning of this book is a rap that he wrote titled, "Can I Speak!?! This book will not take up your time, but will encourage and entertain you with a true story.
