Overview

The author of Shards of Hope and Shield of Winter presents a Psy/Changeling novel in which two people who know evil intimately must unlock the good within their icy hearts…
As an Arrow, an elite soldier in the Psy Council ranks, Judd Lauren was forced to do terrible things in the name of his people. Now a defector, his dark abilities have made him the most deadly of assassins—cold, pitiless, unfeeling. Until he meets Brenna…
Brenna Shane Kincaid was an innocent before she was abducted—and had her mind violated—by a serial killer. Her sense of evil runs so deep, she fears she could become a killer herself. Then the first dead body is found, victim of a familiar madness. Judd is her only hope, yet her sensual changeling side rebels against the inhuman chill of his personality, even as desire explodes between them. Shocking and raw, their passion is a danger that threatens not only their hearts, but their very lives…

One of my favorites!

Really enjoyed this book. I recommend the whole series. I stumbled upon this series with a novella in anthology and loved it, so I had to get my hands on the whole series. This is the third book in the series, there are 10 books released for this series to date. All are really good.

Absolutely fantastic! As far as I'm concerned, everything Nalini Singh writes is gold, and her Psy-Changeling series is complete brilliance. This book in particular, though, is easily among her best. And why is that, exactly? Because Judd Lauren is one fabulous character. Sure, the name is a little less than great, but I got over that quickly. Judd is as fascinating and sexy as only a Psy assassin could be. Pair that with the volatility of a willful Changeling woman, and you better believe there will be sparks. I simply couldn't get enough of this book.

Loved this third book in the Psy/Changling series, as much as the first! Can't wait to pick up the next one :)

This book is an amazing book that I will read again and again. It is absolutely a book worth reading. Nalini Singh creates a world that you can not help but fall in love with. She does such a wonderful job of making the world and the characters with in so believable you think you are actually there watching events unfold. I will definitely be looking for other books by this author.

I loved this book and its characters, but it took awhile for me to get used to the style of this author's writing. I really want to read more about these particular characters. This is one of those books that I just couldn't put down once I got into it.

This is the third in the series, and I realize the plot is getting quite complex and I had forgotten much of the earlier books which lead to some initial confusion. So read these books in order and try to remember them! I like this world when I'm in it, it's only afterwards that the errors begin to jar. Like Spock, the Psy try to be entirely logical, but still intensely ambitious and often illogical. So this not having any emotions, it's not quite true. Nevertheless, Judd Lauren is a fine eg of a hunk of man, all tied up in his own psyche and still granting and wanting skin priviliges from the pychically raped wolf shifter Brenna (this happened to her in the previous book, which is why you have to read them in order) I read this quickly and easily, and will read the next one, but I'm not longing for it. This is a series I'm happy to dip into but not overtly attached to...

This is the third book in the Psy/Changling series and I liked it almost as well as the first book (Slave to Sensation). Judd Lauren is a telekinetic and a Psy who has left the PsyNet along with his family to escape having their minds destroyed. They have sought refuge with the Snowdancers, a wolf changling clan, and have been accepted into their pack. Judd's mind is still locked into Silence and any emotion causes him excruciating pain. Brenna Kincaid, a wolf changling and member of Snowdancer, first appeared in another book in the series. She had been kidnapped and tortured by a psychopathic Psy serial killer and her mind was invaded. She has now healed physically but she has been emotionally damaged. I love books with the theme centered on the healing power of love. Brenna and Judd are basically emotionally broken. Judd continually tries to push Brenna away and Brenna can't keep away from him because she knows he's her mate. The gradual progression of their relationship and the sexual tension culminating in some very hot love scenes were phenomenal. This book was a great addition to the series and I look forward to Mine to Possess. My grade: A-

Caressed by Ice - Nalini Singh (10/10)Paranormal romance; book 3 in the Psy/Changeling series. This third book in Singh's series is, in my opinion, the best, primarily because of the balance she pulls off between the main needs of a book of this type. A good paranormal romance needs a relationship, an outside plot and worldbuilding. Singh weaves them together beautifully in this book, so that everything ties in to everything else and the romance grows organically with the rest of the story, rather than either taking it over or trying desperately to get out of the background, both of which often happen in books in this genre. Very likeable characters who develop realistically and in a satisfying manner. I also liked that the characters made decisions about what they were going to do next, instead of it just "kind of happening".

Great PNR Read! Ohhh, my goodness! I really enjoyed this one! Judd is my kind of Psy! I love how he protects Brenna even when his growing love for her is killing him. And Brenna? Well, way to go, girl! She survived hell, stayed sane, and got herself one hot, fantastic man who only has eyes for her. Brenna and Judd are just another example of two people who love each other enough to find a way to be together. The whole Psy-Changeling world fascinates me and I’m so looking forward to reading more in this amazing series. Focused. Strong. True.

I adore this book. I love how they come together and overcome so much to be together. Not all the tension between couples has to be from external sources. I like how this book is actually focused on the couple and not so much the background happenings.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 3/4 REVIEW:   Just when I think that Vaughn is my favorite Judd Lauren walks into my life.  All tall, dark, cool and oh my goodness yummy!!!!  I totally loved everything about Judd and Brenna’s story.  These two are so beyond perfect together.   I am so glad that Brenna never gave up on Judd.  :)   This story had a lot of ups and downs that at times I wondered how Nalini was going to pull it all off.  But being the amazing story teller that she is Nalini made everything perfect.    Again another amazing story from Nalini and another amazing reading by Angela!   These two are an amazing pair.  I am already on to the next audio book in this series and as long as Nalini keeps turn out amazing stories and Angela narrates them I will keep going on audio in this series.  Disclaimer:  I purchased this book from Audible and this review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

Judd Lauren, a former Arrow that still does wet work, is trying not to be affected by his contact with Brenna(Bren) Kincaid Shane. Judd was involved with her rescue from Santano Enrique. Brenna only trusts Judd with the monsters and nightmares she faces even though it's been months since her attack. Bren doesn't let her family or other pack members into her mind no matter what. Bren calls Judd "The Original Ice Man" because of his coldness towards others. Judd knows to feel emotion is to break Silence something that he must not do ever. Yet how can he explain the feelings surrounding his attraction to Bren. Bren's brothers Riley and Andrew(Drew) are so overprotective of her that she can't breathe or feel free either. Judd seems to be the only person Bren listens too. The Psy Council is trying to implement Project I where children are implanted with device to control their emotions and other behaviors. Ghost doesn't want Project I to come to fruition period and enlists Judd's help to make it happen. Small and weak changeling packs are being attacked with no discernable pattern to their strikes. Bren and her loved ones are being attacked for no apparen reason. Who is mastermind behind Project I? Who is behind the attacks on Bren and family? Will Judd break Silence? Will either Judd or Bren admit their feelings? Your answers await you in Caressed By Ice. I'm definitely liking this series a bit more with each book. It's interesting seeing the dynsmic between the Psy and Changeling. I look forward to more in this series to come. This series is well-written with rich characters and backgrounds to leave you panting for more.

So good!  Oh. My. Goodness. This is an excellent romance with the archetype of a cool dangerous hero.  The heroine is no slouch either and  together they bridge the cultural gap between the Psy and the Changelings.  This entire series is amazing but this book stands out as one of the best love stories in terms of character development and great couple time blended with Singh's always superior world building.  I have reread this one several times because of the deliciousness of the interactions between hero and heroine and to visit old friends.  I highly recommend this book and the series.
