An ex- intelligence officer uncovers a nefarious plot between government and private industry to accelerate the growth of the Prison Industrial Complex. His girlfriend's murder provokes him into action. He gathers a team of highly skilled experts and friends determined to expose or stop this evil conspiracy and to give him revenge. JB is the owner of a marketing firm and the ex-intelligence officer. On holiday, his girlfriend discloses an overview of the secret scheme. She also tells him about the unholy alliance between the world's largest business syndicate and the White House, which is intended to increase profits and political gains. The program is code-named Cobalt Mandate. After her death, the team, which is profoundly experienced in intelligence, politics and reporting, use their talents to launch an investigation. With the help of influential connections, the crew quickly realizes the plan is active. The highly ambitious and deeply corrupt hostile leader apprehends she must stop them before theirscrutiny reveals too much. Attacks and murders harden the group's resolve to stop the destructive agenda. The vicious opposition constantly erects barriers. However, the group overcomes all challenges. When they have collected enough data to expose Cobalt Mandate, the enemy strikes back with aggressive force. Both sides declare war. The ten novels of the Prison Industrial Complex set are all fictional. However, the author's intention was to use the action thriller genre as a means to emphasize the developments of the Prison Industrial Complex that have occurred since its inception in 1973. Over the past three decades (1982-2012) the trends, concepts and policies depicted in this series have and still exist. The author has taken liberty with facts to illustrate the extreme accelerated rate in which we have criminalized behavior; expended billions to achieve harsher results; but, have not changed the crime rate. I beseech every reader to become more aware of the threat the Prison Industrial Complex represents to our nation.

About the Author

Gary L Hamby is the author of a set of 10 action thriller novels about the Prison Industrial Complex (PIC). The first book Cobalt Mandate, was published on Amazon in June 2013 and it shot up the ranks to within 10 percent of all downloads by the end of summer 2013.

The series tells the story of a group of multi-talented investigators who are committed to stopping a nefarious conspiracy between the government and private industry to accelerate the growth of the Prison Industrial Complex.
Hamby's desire for reform of the PIC is personal and prompted writing these books. Deeply ardent about justice, he saw the effects of the American prison system and felt the need to expose the injustices.

In 1996 he was named as a co-defendant with another founder for one count of mail fraud. In 1998, Hamby discovered the government had a 98.6 percent conviction rate, and accepted a plea bargain. He received an 18-month sentence and served 12 months in a Federal Prison Camp.
While imprisoned, Hamby wrote 1.2 million words that created the draft of the PIC set.

Hamby was born in Alton, Illinois, a suburb of St. Louis, on January 27, 1950 to Barnell Lee and Mary Lou Hamby (nee Sutton). He has two sisters, Genece Hamby and Patricia Frederick. Currently, he is single and has no children.

Hamby has enjoyed golf in 50 countries. He has always enjoyed football, basketball, baseball, tennis, track and cross-country skiing and many cultural activities.

In accordance with family tradition, Hamby joined the U.S. Air Force in 1968. Trained as a Vietnamese linguist, he served in the Vietnam Theatre until 1975. During this time and after his return, Hamby attended St. Mary's University, Pepperdine University, University of Maryland and Chapman College. He has earned an MBA, BA and three AA degrees. In addition to English, he speaks six other languages.

At age 27, Hamby entered private industry. He has served as a domestic and international executive. He also founded and sold three separate companies and sat on the board of others. From 1968 until 1986, he spent over 25 years working in the intelligence community. As a result of Hamby's colorful, varied career path, he has lived in 21 countries.

Before he became an author, he also worked as a TV reporter and broadcaster, print journalist, radio talk show host and public speaker.

Hamby is a member of the Writers Guild of America, International Thriller Writers, International Screenwriters Association and the Fiction Writers Guild.
