Overview

Sabrina

He's the cockiest bastard I've ever met and I mean that with all the affection and adoration in the world. I've been in love with him for years, and not just because of those intense blue eyes or that slow smug smile that promises to make all your dreams come true. I've seen what lies under that smile and his cocksure attitude. It's enough to make me melt.

Not that I'd ever let him know. Not only is Luke Cochran one of Hollywood's up-and-coming movie stars...he's also my boss. I'm his personal assistant and have seen all the women who come and go in his life.

I don't even hold a candle. But a girl can dream...right?

Luke

Sabrina is one of the sharpest, funniest, kindest people I've ever met. Sometimes, I think I'm taking advantage of her, but I seriously cannot cope with my hectic lifestyle without her to keep me on track.

Of course, my life just got totally knocked off track. One of my sisters called.

They need me back home. My mother is sick and the last thing I can think about is the promotional tour I've got coming up.

Sabrina's coming with me. She's the only person who can keep me focused and centered in a time like this. Besides, my family adores her. And it's just a quick visit. My mother is tough. She'll be alright.

But then something happens that knocks me for a loop and when my mother tells me that all she really wants in life is to see her kids happy and settled down, I do the stupidest damn thing ever and announce that Sabrina and I are in love.

Now I've just got to convince my best friend to play along with me and act like she's my fiancée and we're stupid in love.

No big deal...right?

WRONG.

Sabrina has been in love with Luke Cochran for years. She is his assistant. As a famous actor, he gets caught in some scandalous situations The last one may affect his reputation and damage control must be done quickly. As this is going on, he finds out that his mother is very sick. Sabrina goes with him to see how his mother is as she is more than an assistant but a friend as well. While there, his mother is worrying about his future. Luke and Sabrina fake an engagement to make her feel better. Sabrina is now stalked and harassed by Luke's fans. After making love, Luke says something to Sabrina that is unfair and she refuses to see him. Luke has a terrible secret which affects him deeply. No one knows and he feels he cannot tell anyone. Will this keep him and Sabrina apart? Will Sabrina forgive him for what he said? Great book. It has a storyline about abuse that may bother some people. I feel that it was very important to the story and talks of healing from abuse. I received this book from Net Galley and INScribe Publishing for a honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Luke Cochran is one of Hollywood’s up- and coming- actors and he knows it. With a smile that promises untold pleasure he’s making quite the reputation for himself. Sabrina is his long-suffering assistant who tries to keep his head on straight. She’s also in love with him. One of the few that REALLY knows him, she knows it’s unrequited. So when he tells his family they’re engaged, she agreed to to the farce, changing everything forever. I absolutely loved this book. I’ve been a fan of this author for a long time, but I think this is probably my favorite. I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like this book since I’m not a fan of promiscuous characters, but this story and the characters were very well written and I’m glad I read it. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

Stumbled upon this story and thought it would be another assistant in love with the boss and she does what she can to get him to notice her. This is not that story...Sabrina and Luke’s story is intelligent, powerful and shows that friendship is the best basis for a lasting relationship. Love this book!

Three and a half stars. Who doesn't love a fake relationship with your boss romance? Sabrina has been Luke Cochran's assistant for four years and probably in love with him for all that time. Luke on the other hand, gorgeous millionaire actor that he is, doesn't have a clue. However, when his mother suffers a heart attack and tells him how much she worries about him he panics and tells her that he and Sabrina are secretly engaged. But Luke is hiding a secret from the world, something that made him run from home at the age of eighteen and his trips back were non-existent until Sabrina pushed him to make the trip. Can a fake relationship turn real and can Luke tell the truth? I liked the plot and the characters but I was put off by the incessant sex. Honestly, page after page after page, then there would be a snippet of plot and then page upon page of sex. I got bored and just flicked past it all wondering at times if there was any plot coming soon. Maybe I should have expected it given the title, I'm sure some people reading this are itching to go and buy the book - and good for them. It just didn't work for me. However, I am really intrigued by Luke's large family, Devin in particular, and look forward to reading more in this series. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Cocksure is the first in the Shiloh Walker's new series, of Cochrans of Cocker County. This story is about a movie star Luke and his personal Sabrina. It was a enjoyable read and it was a page turner. It kept my interest from the first chapter. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book provided by Netgalley . All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received a free ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Cocksure is a romance between a movie star and his personal assistant that features a fake relationship that turns real. Luke is a movie star with a secret he’s ashamed of in his past. When he’s caught in a threesome, the media goes wild. But he doesn’t have time to deal with the media frenzy because his mom gets sick. He asks his personal assistant, Sabrina, to come home with him and help ensure he can be with his mom. After his mom is in the hospital, Luke blurts out that he’s engaged to Sabrina. Perhaps because lately he can’t stop thinking about her. Sabrina has been Luke’s P.A. for five years, and been in love with him for most of it. She’s not amused when Luke tells her what he’s done and begs her to play along. Things get confusing when Luke kisses her, and then more. Soon it’s hard to tell where truth ends and fiction begins. Told in alternation first person points of view, this is a well crafted story. You get to see into both characters’ heads, and understand their motivations. Readers will figure out Luke’s secret, but only through small drips and drabs, before he tells Sabrina, but I think that’s part of what works. Walker gives us just enough to understand where the characters are coming from. Both characters are flawed, although Luke much more so. Sabrina can–at times–be a bit of a Mary Sue, but is still interesting enough to carry her half of the story. Sabrina is a plus sized woman (at one point she says she fluctuates between a 14 and a 16) and at times she has trouble believing that Luke would want her, but she does not magically lose weight. He appreciates and adores her curves. I like that the book does feature a heroine who looks more like the average woman (who is a size 14), and that she doesn’t have that magical slimming that too often has happened in the past. This is the first of a series, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for the next book. The series is called the Cochrans of Cocker County, and since Luke has a number of siblings, the series has quite a bit of potential.

This was so much better than I expected it to be. I knew from the title and the recent trademark situation what this author was doing, but I really wasn’t sure what the story was going to be like. I couldn’t have been more thrilled at just how GOOD it was! An incident in Luke’s life when he was young has haunted him throughout the years but with the help of his assistant, Sabrina, he has managed it to some small degree. When he is called home due to a family emergency he finds himself making an outlandish proclamation. What follows results in a truly romantic story as he finds himself falling in love with his best friend. Sabrina has been in love with Luke for years but she’s not a pushover when it comes to him. And yet, when he needs her to stand by him after he makes a crazy statement to his mother, she never really hesitates. She’s living her dreams knowing in the end she’ll have to let them go. But for now, she’s allowing herself to be consumed by Luke and what they have…albeit temporarily. I’ll admit there’s an issue with Luke at the very beginning that I was not a fan of. It’s also one of those things that makes it hard for me to like friends-to-lovers and boss-employee-to lovers tropes. However, I’m a relatively lenient reader so I chose to push that issue aside and just enjoy the rest of this story. As a result, I ended up really enjoying this couple as they work together, trust each other, and share their secrets. Their dynamic was perfection and is the stuff you know exists in real life. This is a lengthier book than I thought it would be but I never once skimmed. It does not repeat itself nor does it get bogged down with a lot of self-introspection. The steam is absolutely scorching and the secondary characters’ main goal was to help the story along rather than steal the limelight or lay foundation for future books. The angst is light up until the last portion when Luke and Sabrina have a major conflict and then it is elevated but not what I would call gut clinching. I especially enjoyed how hard Luke had to work to win his woman – romance readers who love groveling will appreciate this. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have an epilogue which I felt it needed and I desperately wanted. I may pout about that fact for a while because I wanted one so badly. Nevertheless, if you enjoy this trope I highly recommend this one. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the first book that I've read from Shiloh Walker and I really enjoyed reading this book. I was a little hesitant about Luke at first, what with him seeming like a typical Hollywood star but as you continue to learn about Luke the more I liked him. I think that it might have taken a lot of years for Luke and Sabrina to explore their feelings and the chemistry they share but I am glad that after so long they gave in. Cocksure was a really fun read and I can't wait to read more of Shiloh's work. ***Received this ARC by NetGalley as an exchange for an honest review.

Cocksure is a fun mixed bag of tricks. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen next the author up and surprises you with a twist. This is a delightful romp with a serious subplot and a truly wonderful read.
