Collaboration for Multiplication: The Story of the Houston Church Planting Network
Being overwhelmed changed me. I was overwhelmed by the number of lost people in Houston, Texas. I was overwhelmed by the vast Kingdom resources that never got utilized in the multiplication of disciples, churches and movements. I was overwhelmed by how long it takes and how much it costs to recruit, train, coach and resource a church planter to plant a church. How could we reach so many with the gospel with so few resources when it takes so long to prepare one church planter? This question changed me from thinking about ministry like a golf team to thinking about ministry like a basketball team. It changed my ministry from an individual activity to a team sport. I began to believe in collaboration.

About the Author

Bruce Wesley is the founding pastor of Clear Creek Community Church. Since launching in fall 1993, the church has grown to an average weekly attendance of more than 5,000 people at three campuses. Bruce serves as senior pastor, giving oversight to strategic leadership and spiritual formation, and he serves as one of the primary preachers. He holds an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a D.Min. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Bruce is the founder, president and executive board member of the Houston Church Planting Network, a network of 30-plus networks working together to strengthen church planters to reach every man, woman and child in Greater Houston. In 2014, HCPN started the HCPN Church Planting Residency, a paid residency program for church planters led by key pastors from across the city. Bruce serves as an executive board member of Acts 29 Church Planting Network, a diverse global network of church-planting churches. Bruce and his wife Susan invest in three key areas for community transformation: planting churches, strengthening marriages and raising up leaders for the church of tomorrow. He loves the mountains, fly fishing and hiking trails.
