About the Author

Mr. Malcolm "Butch" Rhodes is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Links Golf Foundation, as well as the owner of Next Shot Golf Services LLC, a golf services and player development company based in Franklin, Tennessee. He began his professional career in 1983 at Rackham Golf Course in Detroit, serving as an assistant under the renowned PGA Teaching Professional Ben Davis. A Class "A" PGA member since 1990, Butch holds the distinction of being the first African American PGA member born in Michigan. Throughout his distinguished career, he has worked across the country in various roles within golf operations and player development, collaborating with players at all levels, including those on the PGA, LPGA, and Champions Tours.
In 2018, Butch was inducted into the African American Golfers Hall of Fame. With over four decades of experience, he continues to be a valuable resource to national, state, and local golf communities.
His greatest impact, however, may be his contributions to youth golf, where his mentorship and passion have inspired countless young players.
