Concepts of Centric Relation
Centric relation (CR) is a stable, natural position of the jaw that's determined by the maximum contraction of the jaw muscles. It's a bone-to-bone relationship through the temporomandibular joint, and it's independent of how the teeth fit together. CR is different from centric occlusion (CO), which is the position of the teeth when they fit together best. CR is used in planning full arch restorations like dentures, crowns, and bridges. This book gives brief idea about centric relation and methods of recording it.
