About the Author

James H. Anderson, PhD, is a former Acting Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, USA, and a twice-confirmed presidential appointee. He has also worked as Professor at the George C. Marshall Center for European Security Studies, Director of Middle East Policy at the Pentagon, project manager at DFI International, research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, and Associate Professor at Command and Staff College, Marine Corps University. Anderson is the author of America at Risk: The Citizen's Guide to Missile Defense and co-author of Leading Dynamic Seminars: A Practical Handbook for University Educators.

Daniel R. Green, PhD, is the former deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategy and force development. He is the author of The Valley's Edge: A Year with the Pashtuns in the Heartland of the Taliban; In the Warlords' Shadow: Special Operations Forces, the Afghans, and their Fight Against the Taliban; and Front Toward Enemy: War, Veterans, and the Homefront, and co-author of Fallujah Redux: The Anbar Awakening and the Struggle with Al-Qaeda.
