The creature is lurking in his lair near the creepy house at the end of Buck Tree Road. And when the creature goes in for the kill, he means business – bloody business. Meanwhile, Abigail Merriweather is a fetching recent college grad who begins a passionate but stormy courtship with the handsome Eldon Bailey. Both of the young lovers, however, harbor dark and shocking secrets in their past – secrets that will prove to be damaging and perhaps even deadly.

One of Abigail’s most prized possessions is the distinctive-looking pewter medallion she wears around her neck. First worn by Abigail’s distant relative, a woman executed for alleged witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts in 1694, the medallion has become an odd and insistent presence in Abigail’s life. As more victims fall prey to the creature, locals wonder when and how the deadly attacks can be stopped. But what is the connection between the ancient amulet, the creature and the horrible history of the house at the end of Buck Tree Road? And can anyone really feel safe with the creature poised to strike again?

The Creature's Curse is a wonderful read. It is truly difficult to put down as the twists and turns keep you engrossed and guessing until the very end. This is especially impressive considering the fact that the book alternates between two separate settings, both of which are very interesting. Campy in the best possible way, I would recommend The Creature's Curse to any horror fan or adventurous reader.

The Creature's Curse is a page turner. Paul Braus keeps the reader intrigued throughout. The use of time and flashbacks makes the reader interested and guessing about what is coming next. The characters progress and transitions are believable and so scary. One thinks something will happen and the author takes the reader in another direction. Overall, I thought it a really well written book and I was thoroughly entertained. The ending left me completely horrified and heartbroken at the same. I really hope there is a sequel!

The "Creature's Curse" is a thrilling, bloody horror tale that has the Salem witch trials at the core of its story, although most of the twisted action unfolds over the last two decades. This page-turner has witches, sex, abusive spouses and parents, incest, ax murders, and of course the centerpiece: a homicidal creature living under the front steps of a cursed house. It all adds up to a wild ride that is a helluva lot of fun. I loved this novel, and I think Paul Braus is one of the most exciting and unique authors working in the horror genre today.

If you like body parts flying, then this is the book for you. Actually, there is more to the book than that. There is an interesting story line that focuses on an entire relationship, from it's rocky beginnings to its.... I'll stop there, wouldn't want to give too much away. There is also: love, betrayal, magic, witchcraft and blood. The end had me feeling for the creature in the title. It's a good book that makes you think and feel.
