Overview

McKAY

I wasn’t the one who broke her but I played my part.

She came to us when she was ten. I raised her. I loved her.

I taught her how to survive in a world of evil men.

But it wasn’t enough.

ADAM

I wasn’t the one who saved her but I did my best.

She needed me as much as I needed her.

Bought and paid for on the auction block.

But not for the reasons you think.

She was my weapon.

DONOVAN

I wasn’t the one who lied to her but I hid her truth.

She was broken before I got there.

Wild and angry. Defiant and bratty.

But she trusted me most.

She loved me best. So I set her free.

Indie Anna Accorsi is a woman lost in her past.

A pretty little nightmare.

A gorgeous piece of misery.

A mess of lovely darkness.

She is creeping beautiful.

And now we want her back.

WOW! What a twisted mind f**k!! I can honestly say I've never read anything like this. It was unputadownable, with absolutely stunning writing. There are so many moving components and even now that I've finished it I want to go back and reread it to see what I could have potentially missed because the story twists and weaves and then loops back around then BAM I was just knocked off my a** Creeping Beautiful is told from the POV of four individuals; Adam, McKay, Donovan, and Indie. It weaves back and forth over fourteen years and during that timespan you are constantly wondering who is telling the truth and who exactly is the good side in all of this. While this is not a harem or menage type of book, there is an underlying chemistry between the four of them, but it's not what you might think, nor what you'd ever expect. This story is all about setting up their backstory and really flushing out the "wizard of oz" and while this is nothing like that fantastical story this book is about "Dorothy and her friends". Okay, I love a good story about antiheros. What drew me in even more was trying to figure out WHO that exactly was in Creeping Beautiful. With four different POV's weaving in and out it was hard to pinpoint exactly who was on the up and up, but each one is basically a villain in their own way. Adam gets painted the worst by Indie. He probably has the most responsibility as the protector, organizer, leader, overall daddy figure, etc...He is the man who bought Indie from the island she was on, but really he won the bid from any number of men bidding on her so was he her rescuer when he also had a purpose for her in the end. Po-ta-toe, Po-tah-to. McKay is a package deal when it comes to Adam, but he is also the one who takes care of Indie on the day to day things. He cooks, cleans, and bathes her, but he also trains her and turns her into the lethal weapon she is. Is he just as easily to blame for how she is or is he the only normal she ever really had? Donovan is a genius child himself. Heading to medical school while he was just a teenager, but he was also the one who convinced Adam to purchase Indie with the promise that he would also be the one to treat her. Donovan isn't exactly who he seems, but neither are Adam and McKay. Indie was just a child when she came to live with them. A child with a purpose. She would become a trained assassin, a weapon to use at their disposal, but at what cost? Can a killer ever have a normal life afterwards? Can you just become a housewife, a mother, get a normal job? All three men knew the answer to that one question, but they also refused to give up on the girl that came to live with them at the age of ten. Creeping Beautiful is wild!! It ends in a way I never saw coming which will make the next installment a page turner for sure.

4.5 stars--CREEPING BEAUTIFUL is the first instalment in J.A. Huss’ contemporary, adult, suspense filled, mind-bending, dark, psychological thriller focusing on four ‘friends’: McKay, Adam, Donovan and Indie. CREEPING BEAUTIFUL is a spin off of, and set in the same world as the author’s THE COMPANY (2017). Told from four first person points of view (McKay, Adam, Donovan and Indie) using present day and several time lines throughout the past, CREEPING BEAUTIFUL covers fourteen years and follows the unconventional relationship between McKay, Adam, Donovan and Indie. At ten years of age, Indie Anna Accorsi was sold and bought by the next generation of an organization known as The Company who trained child killers and assassins to do the work of cleaning up when society has gone wrong. Throughout the years the reader is up close and personal as Indie struggles with her direction in life, a life controlled by the boys, now men, who make it their responsibility to protect Indie from herself and others but all is not well in Indie Anna’s mind, a mind destroyed and still controlled by the psychological manipulations inflicted before she was bought and sold. J.A. Huss pulls the reader into a dark and deadly world of mind control and assassins; of family and friendships; of the manipulations of the body and soul; of one young woman’s desperate attempts to be normal when her world is anything but. CREEPING BEAUTIFUL focuses on Indie Anna Accorsi, and her relationships with the man who bought her, the man who raised her, the man who tried desperately to keep her together, and the boy with whom Indie fell desperately in love. A mind-f*ck of epic proportions; a twisted, intricate and detailed tale of suspense that ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

It's times like this, when I finish a book like this, that I hate that I am unable to write an amazing review. This book was fantastic, I don't have the words. The suspense is mind-blowing. I was taken on a journey while on a rollercoaster. McKay, Adam, Donovan, and Indie were each very unique characters, yet they belonged together, were destined to be together. There is not a whole lot of sex, but there is a ton of love. I wish I could explain, but, you gotta read it, go on this journey yourself, to truly understand.

Whoa! So twisted, messed up but beautiful broken people. I honestly didn’t quite know where this story was going at times because these clever twists would pop up out of nowhere. None of the people are what I’d label as a “reliable narrator” so just when you think you have a truth you can throw into your memory bank...bam! No...that’s not really what happened. I enjoyed the secrets and the Company and the missions that go on behind the scenes. The storyline was amazing and intriguing. This first part was unraveling where everything took a sharp turn and went wrong. I definitely had some guesses and some were right and some were a little off base since I was led awry. But it was so fun to figure out a little tiny bit of what was really going on. Great read.

Creeping Beautiful is not the kind of book you simply read. You experience it. You live it. This story and these characters will burrow under your skin and embed themselves in your soul… and you will welcome it. This is a book that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading it. It’s intense and engaging and thoughtful and absolutely riveting. It is heartbreaking and hopeful all at once. It will you leave you emotionally wrung out and reeling, and so happy for the experience. You don’t need to have read any of JA Huss’s previous books to become thoroughly immersed in this one. Although you may find yourself drawn to her previous books after you’ve read this one, and that can only mean good things for you. I, myself, am a long-time reader and admirer of JA Huss’s work, so you’d think I’d be used to the dark and twisty by now… but there is no preparing for Creeping Beautiful. What I wouldn’t give to live in JA Huss’s mind for just one day! Although, I’m not at all sure my psyche is prepared for such an experience. Machiavelli has nothing on you, Ms. Huss. Lucky for us, you choose to use your powers for good, which translates to hours of enjoyment for your readers. I honestly cannot recommend this book highly enough, and I will be counting the days for the next book in this masterful and compelling series. * I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All of my opinions are honest and entirely my own.

This book was beyond good! It has suspense intrigue twists and turns. You won't be able to put it down. It's been a while since I've been so immersed in a book. From the very beginning you get hooked and drawn in. The character Indie at times is an enigma. But then again I think she views herself that way too. I really liked the character development of Indie. At first I didn't think I'd like this character but then I was rooting for her hard! I recommend this book with 5 stars. I don't think this author ever writes a book that I don't feel satisfied with the characters stories that I had the pleasure of entering their world.

Creeping Beautiful is book one in a brand new series from the crazy twisted mind of JA Huss. She has written in this world before, but you absolutely DO NOT need to read any books prior to this one. These are all new characters and THEIR story. And with book one, we get a little taste of who these characters are and what their roles are within The Company now that it's not the same as it once was. Donovan, McKay, Adam and Indie are the 4 players in this book (and there are a few more that obviously are going to play a role in this foursome lives). And boy, do we get some groundwork set for us. Trust me when I say that this is a book you will want to take in slowly and take in the details since there are many. Each character takes us back to the past where their lives began And how their lives have intersected with Indie Anna's. Each man plays a very separate yet important part in her growing up, but it's the boy next door that just may change her future. Along with the past brings us the present and so many twists and turns to navigate us to the future. I don't even know if I caught every detail, but I know my mind is just beginning to be f*cked with and I can't wait for more. The suspense, the twists and turns, the building of relationships between our players, the danger and secrets lying around each corner and evil lurking just below the surface will have you fully invested in these characters and their journey. This is what JA Huss does best. She is going to take your mind and totally shake it up before releasing tidbits of information for you to gather. This is only the beginning and we haven't even seen how twisted this lady will get. Pay attention and enjoy the ride. I think I just may have to take notes for this one. :) Enjoy our foursome and all the characters that are going to dive into their lives. I have a feeling it's going to get intense, sexy and insane and I cannot wait for it!

Wow! Creeping Beautiful may be the best JA Huss book yet! Seriously, I like every story I’ve read by her and she often has stories that blow my mind, but this one takes the cake! My attention was grabbed from page one and held until the very last page. It’s full of suspense. I love suspense with my romance. I took more notes and hi lighted more parts in this book than I ever have. I know I’m going to need it to help me piece all the parts together when book two comes out. I have all kinds of ideas and scenarios going through my mind. I can’t wait to see if I’m right about anything. I’m definitely recommending this book to everyone who enjoys a good mind f***!

A sexy, twisted tale I couldn't put down! It is starting to get harder and harder to write reviews for Julie's books without sounding like a broken record. Once again she blew me away with the complexity and intricacy of this story. Once again my head is spinning from the mindfuckery (is that a word?) that takes place throughout. And once again I lost myself in the pages of this new "old" world that Julie is revisiting. The very first story I read by Ms. Huss was the first book in The Company, simply titled "Come". It was included in the Bend Anthology and it was our first introduction to a super secret, incredibly powerful shadow organization called "The Company". As messed up as the things were that took place in that world, I could not get enough of it. I fell in love with James Fenici, Nick and Harper Tate, and Sasha Cherlin. More books followed, that world expanded in various ways in other series that Julie wrote, and different branches of the Company were introduced. The original Company was long gone, having been destroyed by the very characters I initially fell in love with. Now, we're back with Creeping Beautiful, which introduces us to characters that were left behind in that aftermath. This story revolves around India Anna Accorsi and the men who love her. Adam, McKay, Donovan and Nathan. Three of them have been raising her since she was ten years old and one is the boy next store who has grown up with her. Told in multiple POV's and in past and present chapters, what transpires is a twisted tale of how each of these men feel about Indie and in turn how she feels about them. I remember saying in another review for one of Julie's books that I imagine her having a huge white board on the wall with pictures of each character, and then countless strings crisscrossing and tying each character together in a specific way. That's how complex and layered her stories get. Creeping Beautiful is no different. SO much happens, on the pages and in the background. And being that this is Company related, a lot of it is twisted and unbelievable and jaw dropping at times. Once you start reading, be prepared to put everything else on hold because you won't be able to put it down. Each point of view is complex, with secrets and truths that are slowly revealed over time. Each piece of information slowly culminating to a mind blowing conclusion that I was not expecting AT ALL. I can't even imagine what is going to happen with the rest of this series, but I am DYING to find out!

Holy Heck, this story was way more than I was expecting. Of course, I should have known better, lol, it is a JA Huss book and it’s written in her own inimitable style. I don’t know how she does it. I’d love to see inside her head, just once, lol. As with most of this author’s books, this one is full of twists and turns, open-ended comments and little insights that made me go. Oh, so that’s how that happened, or, made me want, NO need to read other books that I hate to admit, I haven’t read yet, just to get more information, which will probably send me down yet more rabbit holes-er, books. ;) This is Indie Anna Arccosi’s story. She shares it with three men. It starts off when she ten. Most of the story is told in flashbacks showing her growing up, progressing to the present day. It’s not a gentle life she’s leading, but she’s not your average child. Indie is something… more. Different… deadly. This is an intensely engaging story, it’s got some harsh moments, sweet times. Darkness squeezes through the light and each character, no matter how jaded or jagged, will pull emotions out of you. They will get under your skin. They’ll take you down and keep you hostage while you wonder just who is running the show? If you’re looking for a simple love story, then look elsewhere. There’s so much more than that going on here. And more to follow too. So many questions still need to be answered. This was a spell-binding, nerve-tingling read and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2. I need it now!!!

Creeping Beautiful was brilliant! 5 stars I was intrigued at the beginning of this book, because I had no idea how this story would unfold. The unfolding of a mystery is what kept me on the edge of my seat and reading pages. JA Huss is so good at creating and building this intense, creeping feeling that something is going to happen in the story that will blow my mind. I was also captivated at what kind of relationship was between Indie, McKay, Donovan and Adam. Then some twists happened that I was not expecting, so I was still riveted to the page to see what would happen next. My feelings for these characters creeped up on me, and I didn’t realize how much I cared about them until things started to go down! When the puzzle pieces started to click together at the end, my jaw dropped, I gasped out loud and my mind was blown! JA Huss is the queen of doing that, and I bow down to her for this book brilliance! I cannot wait to read the next book! *I received an advanced copy of this ebook from the author for my honest review.*

Three hot men, one boy next door, and one white-hot mess of a girl create a ripe garden of possibilities in J.A. Huss’ Creeping Beautiful. The author’s superb scene setting, fantastically tormented characters, and intricately entwined plot make for the most enthralling reading. Just like the intriguing cover, Creeping Beautiful is filled with fabulous symbolism that kept me questioning everything and everyone from the start to the finish. Indie, Adam, McKay, Donovan and Nathan’s story is told in multiple POV, and the timeline toggles back and forth from the present to various points in the past that have greatly affected the main characters. Interspersed in the narrative are a smattering of recorded conversations that add to the story and character development in addition to creating an interesting story layout. Ms. Huss provides an excellent backstory and character development. Creeping Beautiful is the perfect setup for a series without feeling like a series starter book, until the incredibly suspenseful cliffhanger ending. Creeping Beautiful is definitely a standalone read, however, for long time fans, who have read the author’s prior work, you can see the parallel and concurrent timelines of various other stories via literary Easter eggs. This story left me (and clearly a few characters) wondering who is running the show, and whose version of reality is closest to the truth. The book left me thirsting for more, and I know that the author will fill my cup and then some as the series progresses. #MustRead2020
