CRISIS, PERMANENT THREATS, OPPORTUNITIES, AND CHANGES
Between 1998 and 2000, I was a member of the Provincial Emergency Committee of the Province of Cachapoal, which covers seventeen municipalities. In these functions, I realized the importance of having good planning in case of emergencies or crises. Later, when I took charge of the "Crisis Management and Emergency Control" module in the "Integral Private Security Management" diploma course offered by the Universidad Católica Raúl Silva Henríquez, I asked two close relatives who had taken postgraduate courses and had the "Crisis Management" course, to send me their notes to read them. When I analyzed them carefully, in both cases, I could see that the contents were far from my expectations; then, I decided to go deeper into these topics.
To do so, I researched numerous sources of information, provided myself with a wide bibliography, and began to make my notes, at a time when humanity was beginning to be affected by the greatest crisis of the last century, as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, i carried out this process of reading books and articles related to the crises with so much enthusiasm. During the period of confinement and without missing much having to leave my home since fortunately, this topic kept me very busy.
At the end of this work, we have included a practical case of crisis management planning and another on a specific contingency, with the purpose that, considering the reality of other facilities, it may serve as a guide in its structure to face similar cases, in whose drafting we had the collaboration of three outstanding professionals, to whom I am infinitely grateful for their time and important support.
