Description: This book highlights the fundamental role that computed tomography plays in the field of neuroradiology.
Purpose: According to the authors, the purpose is to provide a "comprehensive reference" which revisits the role of CT amidst the trend of multimodality workup. This objective is met in a concise manner.
Audience: Although not stated, this book is most appropriate for those early in their radiology training. The outline format and size of this book allow it to be easily completed during a month's rotation. Clinicians and medical students will also find it a helpful resource, whether as a reference or introduction.
Features: Five out of the 14 chapters are devoted to CT of the spine. Each chapter takes the reader through the pathogenesis, frequency, clinical manifestations, CT findings, and differential diagnosis of each entity. The best features are the 847 illustrations which include MRI images when complementary. Additional highlights include the extensive bibliography and summary boxes.
Assessment: Although not designed to be as comprehensive as most neuroradiology texts, this book will find an appropriate audience among those early in their training. The volume of images and outline format provide a good tool for boards review and an easy to reference book for clinicians.
