The second book of our three book series find, the Patterson Family Dancers adding another couple. During auditions, a homeless girl applies and is select as the girl dancer. Conflict arises when the boy winner*s mother doesn't want him to associate with homeless children. The group changes their name. They chose the name of Desamparados, after the area of Alajuela where they live. Harry hires a professional choreographer. The singers become very popular in the music industry. Harry takes Reina and the children to a mountain resort for holiday. The last night Reina drops a surprise request on Harry that will affect their future. The children of Reina peruse their singing careers. They release a CD of their music. They start to tour Costa Rica, Central America and eventually North and South America. The children of Reina present concerts in the US. They travel to several cities including Harry's hometown of Denver, Colorado. They also visit a Native American Powwow on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. They learn to dance Native American style. The children are presented gifts and make to promise to demonstrate the Native American dance styles to the world. Berto joins Reina as their technical crew. Harry and Dina are married. Juan runs away and lives on the streets to punish his mother for not letting him dance with Desamparados. There are several twists and turns in this part of the story.
