Dangerous Heterosexuals
What is coincidence? In a group of 23 people, at least two have the same birthday with a probability of 1/2. The least number of persons to be assembled so that at least three would have the same birthday with a higher probability than 1/2 is 88. What is the difference between coincidence and a miracle? This is a puzzle posed by DANGEROUS HETEROSEXUALS. Each of the dangerous heterosexuals in this mystery are connected by the "calls made" and "calls received" function of a cell phone discarded by a prostitute. In Part One: The Price of Love; a contemporary courtesan and an anachronistic Bible peddler haggle over a bargain that may be a miracle. Rachel Graham and Lumen Gillchrist are dangerous heterosexuals like all of their kind. From the moment of their first meeting they are cast as adversaries, lovers and proxies for good and evil, but which lover is good and which evil? In Part Two: Blind Date with a Cannibal; Gormelia is a widowed librarian preparing to meet a man for the first time that she has only known via the Internet. Gormelia is, by her own admission, a woman with peculiar appetites. Her online suitor, Evander, is a police inspector on desk duty due to an unusual infirmity. Both Gormelia and Evander are apprehensive about the outcome of their first date and the ulterior motives of their new companion. In Part Three: Bona Fides; a group of vice detectives prey on the public they are supposed to serve. One uses the job to conceal murder. Two others fall in love, but can they ever trust each other?
