That's how all jokes start, but this isn't a joke.

Danny and Julie meet in the old cliche' of when he walked into a bar he saw her and knew his life had changed. Julie is suffering the loss of her parents and trying to make a path in her young life. Danny is struggling with his own demons and they both find solace in each other. This book spans many years and many tragedies. Just when you think they have solid footing, Lisa Paul rips it right out of their grasp. It had so many things that befell these characters that it just felt too much at times. Although the book did span many years and we see their relationship from the beginning, both Julie and Danny struggled throughout this book to keep their happy. Although they were able to always depend on each other, life sometimes kicked them and kept them down. It was a quick read but had me wondering why it needed so much heartbreak and angst. Even just a little bit less would have made me like the book better. I don't need rainbows and sunshine, but I don't need a dark cloud throughout the book either.
