About the Author

Born in Warwick in 1948, Phil Street grew up in Kenilworth and Stratford-upon-Avon. He was educated at Kenilworth School - a fine school full of good teachers, one of whom ignited his love of literature and writing.

After finishing school, Phil joined Flowers Brewery in Stratford-upon-Avon where, for the first time, he tasted real beer - illegally and for free. He soon realised though, that unlike a crystal ball, he couldn't see a future through the bottom of a beer glass. So, at the tender age of seventeen, he joined the General Post Office - later changing its name to British Telecom. For thirty-three years, Phil worked for this great British Institution, retiring at the grand old age of forty-nine.

Intending to play golf for the rest of his life, Phil quickly realised after two weeks, that he could barely play at all. Listening to advice from a friendly neighbour, he took a job as a hospital porter at The Horton General Hospital in Banbury, where he lives with his wife. For the first time in his life he received thanks every day from sick, frightened and vulnerable people, whom he was only too happy to help.

After finally retiring, Phil, along with his brother and old school chum began taking trips out, meeting up once or twice a week, to journey to different places around the Midlands. Phil kept a diary of events and happenings and then, one day, an idea was born - why not share their adventures in a book. This is the first one in a trilogy - Days Out with The Funboy3.
