About the Author

Debra Bell-Vanzant, a Chicago, native, is an award-winning author, and currently a resident of Mobile, Alabama.
Her grandchildren inspired the many {decorated} trees in her home, so she wrote this book to share with them, and, hopefully, rouse the interest of children of all ages in black history.
Debra has given back to her communities and played a role in many outreach programs. The daily well-being of the homeless individuals became the focus of all her exciting efforts. Debra has directed teams of people to benefits those individuals without food, clothes, housing and benefits. She has received much gratitude and accolades for her amazing results.
She believes prayer changes everything. No matter what happens in life, Debra remembers the Lord is with her! In Debra’s story, the reason for her season is love and the abundance of Faith that has carried her throughout her life, with the help of the loving prayers from her Aunt Dorothy.
Debra’s Faith relied on the loving words of nana, her grandmother: “Just call on Jesus and everything will be alright.” She still holds onto that belief that no matter what happens in your life, if you believe, have Faith in the Lord Jesus, the Christ, and continue to pray, “Everything will be alright.”
