Overview

The Dedication Project The Dedication Project is a collection of crowd-authored books which contents are primarily dedications collected from a specific community who dedicate the book to someone of influence or importance to their personal lives. Once their volume is published, each author receives a copy of their book to give to dedication recipient. This Project as a whole blurs the lines between art and the everyday, specifically by reviving gratitude in cultural language in the twenty-first century. Dedication: Volume 1 Arianna Warner's Family Every community has their own story to share, their own experiences, and their unique interpersonal relations; Families are no exception. Starting off this project, I wanted to learn more and explore the intimate relations of my family first. It is a community which I have spent 24 years growing closer to, learning about family members personal journeys and experiences. This project continues diving deeper into those journeys learning who has played important and influential roles in their lives. Everyone's family has it's own story to tell, with their own dynamics, experiences, and relationships. Stories of acceptance, sorrow, strength, and love are veins that run through families in many varying ways.

About the Author

Arianna Warner is a current Art and Social Practice Master's of Fine Art candidate at Portland State University. Prior to this, she graduated with a B. A. in Studio Art from Stony Brook University. Since being diagnosed with a chronic pain illness in 2007, Warner began studying art as a form of survival and as a means of coping; this, in turn, has heavily influenced her work. She utilizes performance, participation, and play in her practice.

Her work has been shown at the aforementioned Stony Brook University, The Art League of Long Island, and the University of New Hampshire School of Law, among other locations. Warner is the creator of The Dedication Project which investigates relationships through book form asking specific communities to co-author a book with her. The contents of each volume are primarily dedications to an influential person in each author's life. Warner also is the creator of The Dinosaur Onesie Project, which she discussed during her TEDx Talk (2013). Recently, Warner was nominated "Most Influential Young Person of the Year" by Body and Mind Network.
