Overview

The dark tentacles of a child trafficking cartel have encroached upon a quiet and peaceful region of the Davis Mountains. Their secret compound has gone undetected by law enforcement and their horrendous endeavor operates unfettered. Cory Connor, a focused college bound student planning on becoming a medical scientist, often hunts venomous snakes and insects on area ranches for his detailed work with a local doctor researching how venom may be used to cure diseases. While attending church one Sunday, Cory became aware of the cartel's villainous trade by use of his extraordinary mental and observational abilities. Divining that a local rancher has been duped into leasing a portion of his land to the nefarious trafficking ring, Cory reports the information to his father Les Connor, a U.S. border patrol senior supervisor. Appropriate law enforcement agencies cannot be involved without solid evidence, so Les initiates a private investigation into these crimes. He engages three close friends he trusted to help. It's paramount they identify the land owner, locate the traffickers' compound, bring in the appropriate authorities, apprehend the criminals, and save the children. Les tells his son to let the authorities handle the situation, but young Cory's entanglement with a beautiful yet troubled female suitor thrust them all into an unforgiving plight of brutality. Desert Mountain Enigma reflects the strength of character of the people in the Davis Mountains area and what lengths they will go to protect their community and humanity at large. Despite the dark subject matter the book is laced with humor, love of family, and unity of friends.
