Another great read from Alicia Kline! I thoroughly enjoyed Intoxicated and Shattered, and I'm thrilled to say the same for this book. Actually, I believe Designed was my favorite, so far. This is the third book in the Intoxicated Series, and I loved the way the author brought the reader up to speed in the prologue regarding what had happened at the conclusion of the previous book. I would recommend that the series be read in order so that readers get the full impact of the characters and their personalities. This is Blake and Chris's story. Almost a decade earlier, Blake and Chris were in love - until one night when everything fell apart for her, Chris, and Matthew, Blake's brother. However, Matthew has finally found love and happiness, while Blake is still hiding the secret that destroyed hers years earlier. Chris still loves Blake, despite the way things ended and the years of separation as a couple. He still wants Blake and wants to understand what really happened, but Blake can't bring herself to tell him the secret that she's held in for so long. As usual, I love Gracie, who is Matthew's fiance's best friend and does and says what everyone else would like to say but doesn't. The conversation Blake has with her is excellent and allows Blake to finally share with someone besides Chris what she bottled up inside so long ago. An aside: I can't wait for Gracie's story! As with the first two books int the series, the characters were very realistic and didn't do what I wanted them to do when I wanted them to do it. They did have to work through what tore them apart in order to find their way back to a future together. Just as couples do in the real world, Blake and Chris had to do it in their own way. I thought this book was well-executed and was very happy with the ending. Now, I'm looking forward to the beginning of the NEXT book! I received this book for my honest review.

To the author: You have amazed, floored and WOWED me once again with a subject close to every woman’s heart. You have taken a subject that happens to woman everyday in this world and thrown in a bunch of reality which makes this more amazing. You show us a male’s point of view and how that time maybe doesn’t heal all wounds but then again maybe it does. The readers will have to find out for themselves in this amazing journey. To the readers: You will laugh, cry and you will be floored to beyond amazement. You will love these two characters and they will stay with you for a great time to come. Happy Reading
I had not read a book by this author before and I have to say, coming into it with no expectations, I really liked the plot and the characters in this book. Blake has her own successful design business. She’s a perfectionist, and she seems to have a magic touch in creating beauty and energy in a space and transforming it into something new. If only all aspects of her life were so easy to revamp. Her brother’s best friend Chris was the love of her life, whether she wants to admit it or not. And she was definitely the love of his life. He even still has an engagement ring that he bought her that he never gave her. That’s deep. When they come together again and realize that the old feelings never truly went away, it’s time to Blake to put on her big girl panties and not only come to terms with her past with Chris for herself, but for him too. Will he still want something between them when he finds out the truth of drove them apart so long ago? Stories like this seem to be a dime a dozen, and the storylines can get all too familiar. However, this book separates itself from the pack because it’s well written and well characterized. Blake, I wasn’t so sure about her in the beginning. She seemed kind of self-absorbed to me and it made me feel sorry for Chris, who seemed so sweet and devoted. However, when you delve further into the story and secrets are revealed, it all makes sense. Blake, though I’m not sure I would have made her same choices, did what she felt she had to do at the time and I couldn’t fault her for that. She was a very real and visceral character. Whether you love or hate her, I don’t think by the time you finish this that you will blame her. Overall, I thought this was a great story. It’s not a super original plot, but as I said the writing and characters make the story more digestible and original than I would have thought starting out. I would definitely recommend this book. 4 stars. *Copy provided for review* Reviewed by Sara Squared for Crystal's Many Reviewers
The story starts with Blake who has just helped her brother propose to his girlfriend. Now she will be helping plan the wedding and be a bridesmaid. Then after nine years Chris shows up at her door wanting to be civil. They will both be in the wedding and he wants to talk about what happened. He doesn't know though all the secrets that she has kept from him. Will they be able to get past everything and all the years apart? It's a very sweet romance. They have been apart for so long but Chris helped her become more than a shy girl. The book jumps a lot between the past and present. Thankfully it lets you know what you are reading so you aren't confused. I love the sibling relationship between Matt and Blake. A good quick, fun read. This was a great book about second chances. The second chance for Blake and Chris did not come for about 10 years. Even though I have not read the other two books in this series I did not have a hard time getting into this book. The characters are well developed and it was great to see Blake, Chris and Matthew grow from their teenage years. Not only was it great to see Blake and Chris reconnect but also it was a journey through Blake's life as she always is there to support everyone around her but not take care of herself. She held an important secret inside for many years just to save everyone else the pain. The first part of the book was told from present day and past days so you needed to pay attention to those chapters but it helped the story unfold. I love how in the end after all of the pain Chris and Blake fight to be with each other and bring back their love. I will definitely put the other books in this series on my TBR list.
