Diario de un don nadie
A satire of Victorian-era England, this hugely amusing tale spans 15 months in the life of Charles Pooter in the form of a diary. The narrator is nobody particularly special; in fact, he is incredibly run of the mill: a middle-class employee of the city of London with social aspirations. Throughout the pages of his diary, unforgettable characters begin to appear, such as his wife Carrie, his son Lupin, his friends Mr. Cummings and Mr. Gowing, and Lupin’s girlfriend Daisy Mutlar—as do anecdotes rife with innocence and joie de vivre that reflect his affinity for wordplay and jokes. This hilarious illustrated novel was first seen in installments in Punch magazine between 1888 and 1889 before being published as a book in 1892, and today it is considered a classic work of humor.
