Abdel Aziz, Mohamed (b. 1940 in Cairo). Egyptian filmmaker. Elder brother of Omar Abdel Aziz. Graduated from the Cairo Higher Film Institute in 1964 and worked as assistant director to, among others, Salah Abou Seif. Active as a director for 30 years, he made his reputation with a long series of comedies. Abdel Salam, Ahmed. Egyptian filmmaker. Feature film: Mister Dollar / Mister Dollar (1993)

Abdel Salam, Chadi (b. 1930 in Alexandria; d. 1986). Egyptian filmmaker. Studied architecture at the Cairo Fine Art School and drama in Oxford. Worked as designer on a number of Egyptian productions of the 1950s and, in the 1960s, collaborated on films with Youssef Chahine (on Saladin) and three foreign directors (J. L. Mankiewicz, Jerzy Kawalerowicz, and Roberto Rossellini). His debut feature, The Mummy, was followed by three short films made in the early 1970s and a series of historical documentaries for children in the 1980s The Mummy is universally regarded as one of the master works of Egyptian cinema. He was subsequently unable to made his long-planned second feature, Akhanaton. Feature film: The Mummy aka The Night of Counting the Years / al-Moumyâ' (1969)

Abdel Sayed, Daoud (b. 1946 in Cairo). Egyptian filmmaker. Graduated from the Cairo Higher Film Institute in 1967, worked as assistant director with Youssef Chahine and Kamal Al-Cheikh, and made a number of shorts in the 1970s. A key director of the 1980s when he turned to feature filmmaking. Abdel Wahab, Fatine (b. 1913 at Damiette; d. 1972). Egyptian filmmaker. Married to the singer Leïla Mourad. Studied at military school but was drawn to the cinema and worked as assistant director in the Misr studios from the beginning of the 1940s. A prolific director in the 1960s and 1970s, he is regarded as Egyptian cinema's finest specialist in comedy.
