About the Author

Barbara A. Anderson, DrPH, CNM, FACNM, FAAN, has had a long career in nursing and public health, field-based teaching, mentorship, program planning, curriculum development, and academic administration.

Joyce M. Knestrick, PhD, CRNP, FAANP, has been Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and DNP Faculty at Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, KY. She has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1986 and currently practices in acute and chronic care at The Primary Care Center of Mt. Morris, PA.

Rebeca Barroso, DNP, MSN, CNM, FACNM, is an assistant professor of midwifery at Frontier Nursing University and practices full-scope midwifery at HealthEast Care, Saint Paul, Minnesota, serving low-income national and international clientele at Seton Catholic Charities Clinic.

It includes wonderful examples of exciting scholarship, but also illustrates how the evidence is then translated into clinical practice.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide some guidance and clarification of the development of appropriate capstone projects. The overarching goal is in keeping with the 2010 Institute of Medicine Report, "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health," which calls for all in the nursing profession to practice to the full extent of knowledge and skill consistent with academic preparation.
Audience: The audience includes faculty, DNP students, and practicing DNP nurses. The focus of this book is on assisting practitioners in translating evidence into improved quality healthcare. The authors are experts in the field, experienced both in practice and in education.
Features: This resource is divided into three separate sections, introducing the DNP degree and scholarship, DNP exemplars, and the implementation of DNP capstones to influence clinical care. Each section focuses on improving the understanding of the capstone project as an integral component of the DNP degree. A variety of excellent capstone projects highlight the essential stages.
