About the Author

Jennifer Thomé is a magazine editor, intelligence researcher, business journalist and most importantly, a corporate jungle survivor.

While working as a business journalist she noticed that professional women were often hesitant to be interviewed for articles or to speak candidly about the ongoing inequalities of the workplace. Curious about whether or not there was an epidemic of "imposter syndrome" among female professionals, Jennifer started researching the hidden social dynamics of the workplace, leading to the creation of Don't Smile at the Monkeys. The book is the culmination of years of interviews and research into animal behavior, biology and psychology, and how all of these factors work together to create the modern workplace experience, or as she likes to call it: the corporate jungle.

Jennifer has a BA in German Literature and Women's Studies and an MA in Chinese Literature and Culture, and has worked for a number of entertainment and business magazine in the United States and China, the intelligence branch of the U.S. government and a number of private and public enterprises and institutions.
