Double Feature Annual #1: A Night at the Grand Guignol

After its raucous and playful, shocking and controversial, and wildly entertaining first two issues, DOUBLE FEATURE magazine returns with its double-sized annual issue: "A Night at the Grand Guignol"...

Welcome to Le Theatre du Grand Guignol! Our reputation proceeds us as the foremost purveyors and portrayers of the bizarre, the mad, the violent and twisted - suffice to say none that attend will return home...unsatisfied, shall we say. Nine tales, from nine authors await behind these doors - stories of revenge, of greed, and of denial. But just in case you might think you may uncover some deeper truth upon our stage, think again. We are to shock you, to terrify you with acts so vile, so fantastically savage, you may wonder if our scribes haven't themselves fallen victim to their own more baser drives. Our tales tonight include a garden party of a different sort, a diner where the evils of Americana and monstrous legends of old Europe meet to do battle for their lives...and another slice of pie, and a destitute man learns that something never comes for nothing, and when its time to give back it's too late to escape his darker fate.

Featuring the all-star collection of authors Michael Strong, Melody Alice, w.p. Quigley, S.N. Humphreys, John A. McColley, and Lucienne LeBeau alongside talented first-timers DS Vernon, Madi Quinn, and Maggie Moreau - "The Troupe" deliver nine unflinching and gory visions into the darkest regions of the human psyche.

CONTENT WARNING: A NIGHT at the GRAND GUIGNOL contains frank, graphic scenes and depictions of everything that could have a content warning attached - as was the tradition of that early 20th century French cultural phenomenon. Reader discretion is advised.

As well as potentially twice-weekly therapist sessions after finishing.

About the Author

wp Quigley is the architect behind the groundbreaking anthology of transgressive fiction and poetry, "ChaoS/HeaveN". Born in Humarock Beach, MA in 1976, wp (Walter Patrick) grew up in unique circumstances. The experiences he had during childhood, coupled with a rare intelligence and insistence at looking through the darkest lens possible to single out which is the brightest light has shaped both his style and his courage the write about subjects others will not.

Born and raised on the South Shore of Massachusetts, DS Vernon has lead the life of a suburban father and husband - a successful career, marriage, and three wonderful children. The call to write, however, had become too urgent to ignore. His unique perspective on the emotions and events that populate, at least on the surface, that idyllic life reveal there is a deeper, darker shade to that world.

(squelches tentacles) Shannon is a mother, self-published author, senior staff writer at DOUBLE FEATURE magazine, and is definitely not trying to summon eldritch horrors from the depths of the Thames Estuary.
