About the Author

Cindy Saunders was born in Lowell, MA. She moved to Rhode Island in her twenties and considers the Ocean State her home. She graduated from Bryant College with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and currently lives her family in Exeter, RI. Double Star is her first novel and was initially published in November 2012.

This was really an interesting story. It seemed to take a while to get into the story when I started reading, but after a few chapters the story started unraveling and I could not put it down. It was such a different story to what I have read in the past, and I loved it. Ally is a fun heroine and she is so easy to like and Liam is such a big brother! He is not Ally's big brother, but his mannerisms and attitude... If you have an older brother you will totally understand what I mean when you read this book.

Double Star is full of action and self-discovery. I love that the story is in the first person point of view of both Ally and Liam as well. I feel like I got to know both of them so much better and was able to connect to the characters emotionally. I cannot wait to find out what happens next. Absolutely enjoyed the beginning of this potentially fantastic series.

It is a book that once I started reading it I didn’t look up from until the end and was startled to find that the rest of the world hadn’t slipped away into the pages of Double Star with me.

The world building is fantastic, the characters are well developed, and the story is just wonderful. Cindy’s writing allows you to get a really good understanding of many of the character’s struggles and personalities and you feel as if you grow close to many of them rather than just one or two main characters. There is conflict, action, character growth, magic, and mythology galore. I’m not going to go into all of the characters because honestly they’re all great.

In a lot of ways I felt the same after reading this book as I did when I finished Harry Potter. The connection to the characters and the world they lived in was very vivid and I can’t wait until book 2 of this fantastic series comes out. It is a wonderful young adult fantasy that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone!
