Overview

Doyle's Law by Bob Moats

Doyle is a homicide detective. He's a good detective, but he has a problem, he's getting fed up with crime. A hostage situation comes up involving the Mayor of Detroit and a mugger, who Doyle put in the hospital. The hostage exchange goes slightly wrong, but it was enough to make Doyle quit the PD. He goes out on his own to become a private eye and along with another ex-detective, Oscar Drew, they start their business. Their first client is a woman looking for her missing father. But is there more to the story involving bookies, murder, a missing lottery ticket and a hot looking waitress. Doyle and his partner have their hands full trying to sort everything out.
Detroit will never be the same when Doyle hits the streets. A new novel by Bob Moats, the author of the Jim Richards Murder Novels.

About the Author

Detroit area resident, Bob Moats, has been writing short stories and plays for as long as he can remember. He has lost most of his original stories, typed or handwritten, in the numerous moves he has made from his hometown of Fraser, Michigan to Northern Michigan, to Las Vegas and back to Fraser, where he now lives. Moats became one of the causalities of unemployment in 2009, and had time on his hands to finally pursue a life long dream of writing a full blown crime novel. Thus was born the first book, "Classmate Murders".

What followed was a series of books starting with "The Classmate Murders" which introduces the main character, Jim Richards, who has to admit he has become a senior citizen, reluctantly. Richards, one day, receives an email from a childhood sweetheart asking for his help, but by the time he reaches her, she has been murdered. His life turns around and he is pulled into numerous murders of women from his high school who he hasn't seen in forty years. Along with a friend of his, Buck, a big, mustached biker, they go off to track down the killer before he can get to one former classmate, Penny Wickens, a TV talk show host who Jim has just fallen for while protecting her. The killer is also murdering the women right out from under police protection, driving homicide detective Will Trapper crazy, and he slowly depends on Jim to help. There's humor, suspense, wild chases across suburban Detroit with cops, classic cars and motorcycle clubs; murder, mayhem, a good amount of romance and a twist ending.

Moats Hits a Home Run With Doyle's Law . . . . Arthur John Doyle, a veteran Detroit homicide detective has a problem. Actually, he has lots of problems, but in the main is his intolerance of lowlife criminal scum, which keeps him in hot water with his superiors. Doyle is suspended for beating a suspect in an attempted mugging, but when the mayor’s kids are kidnapped, and shortly afterwards the mayor himself is snatched, Doyle is called back to duty. The kidnappers want the mugger Doyle put in the hospital in exchange for the safe return of the hostages, and they insist Doyle be the go-between. Things don’t always go as planned, though, and the mayor gets wounded during the rescue, leading Doyle to turn in his badge and become a private investigator. If you think that was the end of his problems, though, you’d be completely wrong. But, you’ll have to read Doyle’s Law by Bob Moats to know just how wrong you are. A fast-paced, gritty mystery novel with lots of salty banter and enough violence to satisfy fans of noir, this is a book you’ll find impossible to put down until you get to the end. Moats gives us a bit of everything – touches of humor and lots of no-holds-barred action as Doyle proves he’s tougher than the toughest scum on Detroit’s mean streets. I finished the free review copy of this book in one sitting, and now I’m looking for more.

Bob Moats has taken his writing in a new direction with Doyle's Law!  Rouge cop turned P.I. And this book is full of twists and turns, new characters, new romance, a little humor. If you are a die hard Jim and Penny Richards fan, here is your chance to meet some new friends! Doyle's Law will not disappoint! In true Bob Moats style, this book will have you wanting more! I'm not saying much about the storyline because I hope you will read it for yourself. Once you do, you will be hooked.

Since I was a devoted fan of Bob Moats Jim Richard's series  I thought that this would be another Private Eye like Jim... I could not have been more wrong . The only way that they were alike is that they were both committed to finding out the truth no matter where it took them.  There is enough of every thing to satisfy all readers of private eye mysteries. Once I started reading it ~I was not able to put it down until I read all of it.  And then went to check out more books.
