Bob Clark wrote and directed this comedy about an evil scientist (Kathleen Turner) who makes a discovery relating to infant brain waves -- and concocts a plan to use this knowledge to her own advantage. Producer Steven Paul got the idea for this film when he was in a Barneys clothing store and saw two babies interacting and relating to each other while their parents shopped. Paul's concept was to combine a Look Who's Talking-styled premise with Babe-type techniques to show babies holding sophisticated conversations and acting like grown-ups. Paul successfully pitched his idea by creating a short pilot with babies as film executives in conference. Morphing and digital manipulations show babies talking, moving, gesturing, and behaving like adults. More than 60 babies appear in Baby Geniuses, and the roles of gifted twins separated at birth are played by triplets (because triplets can work longer hours).
