From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes Bolt, the tale of a superstar TV pup (voiced by John Travolta) who gets plopped in the middle of America with seemingly no way back to the glam and glitz of Hollywood. Thanks to his starring role on a hit television show, Bolt the pooch has become a household name. But Bolt has bought into his own heroic image, now believing that he really possesses the super-canine powers of his fictional television series. When he's accidentally shipped from Hollywood to New York City, he must rely on the help from his two newfound friends -- an abandoned house cat named Mittens (voiced by Susie Essman) and a television-addicted hamster named Rhino (voice of Mark Walton) -- as he embarks on a cross-country quest to get back to his owner (and co-star), Penny (voice of Miley Cyrus).

The premise is great. Bolt plays a dog with super powers so long that he really believes he is the character. Lots of drama and fun with buddies in tow.

This movie is so well done and entertaining it is easy to overlook that it is one of the deeper movies, philosophically, ever made. The central theme is deception -- and the effect that that can have on the indivdual. This is how propaganda works. This relates to the behavior of the peoples of Germany and Japan during World War II; your behavior is governed by what you believe to be true. It would be easy to do a Masters thesis on this movie, which shows ever greater depth and detail with each viewing -- IF you look for it. Walt Disney himself would have loved and been very proud of this movie, and the animation is the best I have ever seen. My wife and I have been buying the movie in quantity lately and giving copies to friends. Most had never heard of it. They all love it. Disney should consider a rerelease at a time when it would not be coming out directly opposite a Pixar feature -- this one was released at about the same time as "Wall-E". Interestingly, Bolt himself was modeled (very accurately) on the American white German Shepherd, as anyone who knows German Shepherds will probably figure out for themselves! -- Eric Norberg, Portland, Oregon

Bolt was great, and endearing. The storyline was entertaining, plenty of action and adventure. The supporting cast of "characters" was funny, the pigeons were a riot. If you're looking for family fun for movie night get this one. John T. did well as Bolt. Grab your movie snacks and your family and enjoy neat animation.

A dog, BOLT, who is the star of a TV show where he has superpowers, doesn¿t know it¿s all make believe.

When Bolt is separated from his owner and shipped to New York, he slowly starts to realize that his powers are a fantasy, thinking that the powers of Styrofoam are responsible.

It must be hard to make a story like this work, while satisfying our logic. But the filmmakers allow us to put logic aside and enjoy.

Writer-directors, Chris Williams and Byron Howard deliver an entertaining movie.

Voices of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus give it much energy.

Bolt is a very good family movie. it tells about a movie dog that tries to find his owner which he thinks got kidnapped by a green eyed man. But really it was just in a movie. On his journey to find his owner bolt meets friends. A cat and a hamster. Together Bolt and his friends go on a journey to find bolts owner. Unaware that his owner has begun a journey herself to find Bolt. A good movie that the family will want to watch again and again.

He had to watch it almost every night for a long time. He still asks for it a lot. I usually get into it as he watches it too.
