I've been waiting for a long time to finally get two of my favorite horror classics on DVD. The Mummy's Ghost, in particular, was made in just two weeks in l943 and quickly became one of Universal's most popular sequels. Ramsey Ames portrays the doomed Amina Monsouri/Princess Ananka with a brooding, tremulous quality. Probably the most ravishing starlets to ever grace the silver screen, Ames is unforgettable as she is finally captured by Kharis, the mummy, and she ages into a thousand year old corpse. Ames was criminally unused by Universal and died two years ago. The Mummy's Curse, made the same year, is also memorable because it stars the superbly talented Virginia Christine, who later became known to millions of us as ''Mrs. Olson'' of the Folger Coffee Commercials. Christine's greatest scene is when she emerges as a revived mummy from quicksand. This is one of horror film's greatest sequences and Christine remembers suffering greatly for this segment. Bravo to Universal for treating its horror classics with great respect. Unfortunately, this DVD lacks the juicy extras we fans we would have loved. Maybe commentaries, deleted scenes, documentaries.
