"The DVD edition of The One is gorgeous and packed with extras. Picture quality is crisp and clean, and the colors are excellent. The viewer is offered the choice of widescreen presentation, preserving the theatrical aspect ratio of 2.40:1, or a modified full-screen view. Audio is available in English or French, but subtitling features a whopping five languages: English, French, Chinese, Korean, or Thai. Director commentary is fairly interesting, including comments on production choices, special effects, and the like. The commentators are director James Wong, production designer David Snyder, cinematographer Robert McLachlan, and editor James Coblentz. This means a great deal of attention to the technical side of the film, which is pretty interesting stuff. The behind-the-scenes features emphasize this aspect as well, although from different angles: ""Jet Li Is the One"" provides some general information (including the fact that this film was originally supposed to star The Rock); ""Multiverses Create the One"" emphasizes the special effects and wire work; and ""About Face"" goes into some detail as to how the filmmakers got Jet Li to fight himself. The audio on all of these is somewhat imbalanced, so at times it's hard to hear what people are saying; fortunately, this problem does not extend to the film. The scene selection navigation is a little confusing, but overall, the features and extras are nicely integrated into this package, with the option of turning the commentary on and off with only a few presses of the button."
