Making it easier for those with a
Strange Music fan on their shopping list, label head and underground superstar
Tech N9ne stuck his
E.B.A.H. and
Boiling Point EPs together for this collection, which is not only easier on the wallet, but a thematically sound idea.
E.B.A.H. (and that stands for "Evil Brain Angel Heart") is the party-minded of the two, recorded after rapper
Tech came off his Hostile Takeover Tour, celebrating with like-minded folks like
Krizz Kaliko and the
816 Boyz. "Don't Tweet This" and "Rock Yo Head" are the reparative tracks here, but for
Boiling Point, it's "Should I Killer," which is the play on words that you think, representing the dark, tortured soul music that colors the EP, most of it sounding like a throwback to
Tech's earlier carrier. Most of the production comes from
Strange Music's secret weapon,
Seven, and while these EPs are fat with
Tech in fine form, they do feel more instant and unfinished than his album cuts. Newcomers should pass, but fans should consider it, especially if they haven't picked up these releases separately. ~ David Jeffries
