The purpose of this study is to analyse how far Gandhian Economic Thought is relevant to contemporary India.Whole of the world has reached the point of crisis today. Poverty, mass unemployment, inflation, environmental pollution and the insecurity of under developed countries and prevailing. Not only the under developed countries but the capitalistic advanced countries have also not been able to eradicate the poverty. The environmental pollution has posed a threat to the health and sanitary conditions and has increased the social cost of production. People are running out of patience and are looking for a system that is alternative for both socialism and capitalism.
