For those of you out there that work with eDirectory on a daily basis or just dabble with it here and there, this field guide is a must. The book goes into just enough detail for the advanced users, but also does a fine job explaining some of the basics to the eDirectory rookies. If anything, buy this book as a reference guide. It is by far the most comprehensive eDirectory resource guide around and goes into great detail on the differences between eDirectory running on NetWare and eDirectory running on non-NetWare OS platforms such as Windows and Linux. This book includes several comprehensive tables such as DSTRACE options and DSREPAIR options, both the well known switches as well as the less common switches. Whether you're installing eDirectory for the first time, or the 100th time, this book explains important tips and tricks to installing, migrating and implementing eDirectory. Once you have eDirectory running, it goes into depth on the various administration tools, some of which are familiar and some that are not. And you can't forget the 'Troubleshooting eDirectory' section which explains how to use NDS iMonitor and other utilities to keep your eDirectory environment healthy and optimized. This section alone is worth the price of the book. Why spend hours searching through lengthy TIDs when you can whip out your field guide and find what you're looking for. Every system administrator needs this field guide in their 'toolbox' and thus receives a 5-star rating!
