About the Author

A retired police detective, corporate executive, and a decorated United States Air Force veteran, Jim is an adjunct college professor, teaching corporate and personal ethics curricula to capstone classes in law enforcement, criminal justice, and problem-solving for the 21st century. Jim is currently board certified in security management (CPP – Certified Protection Professional) by the American Society for Industrial Security International and certified in Homeland Security. He is also a former certified Senior Human Resources Executive (SPHR) by the Society for Human Resources Management.
Jim is also certified in Gerontology and Hospital Emergency Management Planning (CHEP). He has served as the ASIS International representative on the executive board of the Rural Disaster Preparedness Consortium. He is proud to be a former decade-long member of the ASIS Crisis Management and Business Continuity Council. He is the founder and moderator of the LinkedIn forum USAF Defensor Fortis. Jim has also served in a wide variety of appointed and elected civic positions. He is married to Patricia McDermott-Murray, and they share four wonderful children and eight equally wonderful grandchildren
