Raw, Passionate, Liz Crowe Awesomeness! Liz Crowe is back and better than ever with her next Stewart Realty novel! I absolutely can not get enough of these amazing stories. They are filled with compassion, passion, understanding, tragedy, and just everyday struggles, making her stories unforgettable. They are all absolutely amazing novels, but each one is better than the one before it, and I find a new character in each one that I can't get enough of(though I will say that Jack Gordon will forever be my book boyfriend!). Escalation Clause takes the reader on a journey through the lives of the Gordons and their long time friends; friends who have become a part of them. Tragedy has struck and the devastation is unforgettable. But, through love and understanding, hope and commitment they pull through. And new characters are introduced. Characters that will quickly fill the void and who will steal your heart. Tension is running tight in marriages that should be amazing, and one person is struggling to hold onto the past..... I won't go into detail of the story.....I want you to go and grab up this book (but only if you've read 1-5!) and see for yourself. I will tell you that this story focuses on Mo, aka Maureen Gordon Taylor, Jack's sister, suffering a tragedy that no woman should bear. But, then in sweeps a sexy soccer coach, and maybe things will brighten up for her. Or will they? Raw passion ensues, emotions are are played and lives change. Letting go just doesn't always work, and it's tested among the pages of this incredibly chiseled story. A story of heartache that will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you curse Liz out for not having another book readily available, Escalation Clause is fabulous. The journey you embark on in these pages is gut wrenching, page-turning awesomeness and won't leave you for a long time. You'll be sitting there, reflecting back on the story, and still think about the effects it left you with. I could go on and on with this review. But, I won't. I'll stop there and tell you that you need to read this. It's romance for real life, embracing the emotions, the pain, the turmoil of everyday struggles that people go through. It's real. It's 5 million Book worthy, and so much more. If you've not read the Stewart Realty books, please don't start with this one. There are back stories and events that happen that will leave you confused. You need to grasp the full family of characters by starting with Floor Time and working up. Liz Crowe will be forever in your heart with her work, and you'll find yourself comparing everything to her books. Liz, once again, I say that you are truly amazing. You've made me an addict for your work, and I am proud to say that your stories are amazing! Well done, once again and I can't wait to see what you have in store for the kids! *A copy of this book was received in exchange for my honest opinion*
There just aren’t enough superlatives to describe Liz Crowe’s writing, including her latest release, ESCALATION CLAUSE. Crowe is amazing at writing complex, difficult relationships that are completely realistic. Her books cannot be classified as fairy tale romances. She calls them “Romance for Real Life” and what an apt phrase that is! For real life and modeled after real life. To read a Crowe book is to cry tears of great sadness, to fight the temptation to throw your eReader across the room and watch with great satisfaction as it breaks into a million pieces when the frustration is too much and to cry tears of joy. Emotions run high among the characters and the reader! ESCALATION CLAUSE is the sixth book in her highly successful STEWART REALTY series. Our favorite characters are back and ALL of them have issues to deal with. Jack and Sara are at odds and one has to wonder if these two will ever get their relationship together. Jack’s sister Maureen proves just as challenged at recognizing and embracing love when a new, hot man enters her life following the death of her husband. Rob and Lila are back, trying to define their relationship as they move on without Blake. We even get a closer look at Sara’s parent’s relationship which explains a lot about Sara’s emotional reactions. The good news is that, after going through hell, by the end of the book everyone is enjoying a nice, settled life with another round of babies being born and the next generation of star crossed lover beginning their attractions to each other. Received from the publisher for an honest review.
Ok where the heck do I start??? This book is probably the best in the series for a multitude of reasons. I love going back in time to see a young Jack and his friends. I loved getting to know Brandis as a young man and meet/court (behind Jack's back) Mo. I think the introduction of Rafe was great too because he is sooo stubborn like the Gordon family so he will definately have to hold his own!! I love that Liz keeps the future story lines up and fresh. We still have some Jack and Sara drama because they are both so much alike that they cant open up fully to the other. Do I need to discuss the Shannon scene...ugh Sara!!!! We get to see Rob and Lila dealing with the loss of Blake. We get to see a bit of Kyle and Shannon's story and Evan and Julie's story developing as well. This book has alot of plots going but never to many to be confusing. This book in the series is doing a great job begining to wrap up the "family" and start the kids books. I am sooo very excited after the epilogue's revilation about Gabe...SQUEEEE...dont wanna spoiler anything to anyone but OMG killer!!! Which anyone who reads Liz's books know that her epilogues are amazing!!!!!!! I have to say my favorite scenes were the fighting with baby/toddler boys Brandis and Gabe....frenemies for sure !! However my favorite "adult scene" was definately the wax scene. This was a great scene where Sara takes control and as we know Jack isnt a fan of losing control.....nicely done there Ms. Crowe...niiicely done!! Ok and I must admit I did get the giggles when Jack was telling Mo about what she will and wont be doing with Rafe toward the end of the booki...classic scene for a Gordon family member. Ok so again I find myself rambling but seriously this series is sooooo amazing I just cant not talk about it or promote it. The books get better and better. If you havent tried a book your need to. You will not be dissappointed...angry and irritated but never dissappointed in her books!
Book 6 in the series is, so far, my favorite. It covers several story lines, incuding backstory of siblings Blake & Sara, then jumps back into Jack & Sara (Yes! I'd been missing them!) Rob & Lila, and a new love interest for Jack's sister, Maureen. Really good. Wy isn't Liz Crowe famous yet? Rated R. Read these books in order.
Escalation Clause By Liz Crowe Escalation Clause is book six in the wildly loved Stewart Realty Series. It is important to read the rest of the books before you read this one. While it is a great novel in itself, having the backstory really helps. Escalation Clause fills the reader in on what happens to their favorite characters, Jack, Sara, and Rob while also giving us a deeper look at Jack’s sister Maureen and Sara’s parents. It also sets up the storyline for Liz’s new series- The Black Jack Gentlemen about the expansion soccer team Jack gets started in Detroit. As a fan and reader of the Stewart Realty series, this book is a must read. I needed to know more about Rob and Lila after Essence of Time and learning about Maureen’s life provided me with a deeper understanding of the dynamics between her, Jack and Sara. The best part of this book is the interaction between the characters. The women sit and discuss their relationships. The guys threaten and pick on each other. It’s just like real life. The characters fight, worry, make-up and love each other with passion…as family, friends and lovers. They are the type of people youwish you knew. I highly recommend that readers who love stories about real people and books with passion, read Liz Crowe.
These are some of the bet books I have ever read. The make laugh, cry, and mad all in one book. I love Jack and Sara they are my favorite. Blake, Rob, and Lily my heart broke for them. I never cried so much reading a book until I read theirs. Can not wait for the next one
Please if you have not started this series read in the order that the author intended you to beginning with Floor Time. I became addicted with just reading the first few pages that introduce the first 2 characters,Sara and Jack. Each book is an awesome read leaving the reader always wanting more.Book 6 Escalation Clause deals mostly with story of Jack's sister Mo. In this book we also see some amazing character growth of the much beloved character of Jack Gordon, who just happens to be my favorite alpha male. Of course Sara and the rest of the friends and family are here. Be advised if you are as vested as I am you might need a tissue for one part and in another you might have a big smile, and laugh on your face. Once again you will be left wanting more. The 7th book releases in 2013,this reader can not wait.
My name is Alyssa and I’m a Liz Crowe addict. Escalation Clause was my latest fix and was, one of my most highly anticipated book releases for November. I absolutely could not wait to get my hands on this book! After reading Essence of Time (my favorite read of 2012, BTW), I desperately needed this book. I’ve NEVER had such a visceral reaction to a plot line and I needed closure, I needed understanding & most importantly, I needed to grieve. I’m not going to go into plot or give you a summary of the book to entice, because it honestly doesn’t need that. You only need to know one thing - you must read this series. Jack & Sara - Such an amazing, strong & powerful couple. My heart wept for them as I watched them grieve and grow further apart. But they are resilient, their love is strong and, as we well know, they fight hard and they chose to fight for their relationship. I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating - Sara is fierce! The loss of her brother was devastating to her, but through that loss she realized exactly how much of her life she let Blake live for her. She was forced to deal, and with that, came new strength and acceptance of her worth as a woman, a wife & a mother. She now refuses to accept anything less than what she, or her family, deserves - even from Jack. My favorite scene from this entire book involves these two, a trip to GA (What!! Jack, was in my home state!) and ice - no need to say anymore ;) Brandis, Maureen & Rafe - Liz did it to me again! I just need to invest in a case of tissue when there is a Liz book on my tablet. We’ve known Maureen & Brandis’ ending for a little while now, but since they have always been in the background as secondary characters, the loss was not truly realized until this book. The main reason why I loved this book so much was because of these characters. The love and bond that Brandis & Maureen had, was extraordinarily beautiful and, I think, very important to know so that we can understand just how much she lost when he died. Even though I knew the outcome, I still fell in love with him, I had no choice. His death was gut-wrenching to read and completely shredded me. How do you move on from that? Simple, time and Rafe. I loved Maureen’s no holds barred kick a** attitude with the vulnerable side, that was scared to open up and love again after losing Brandis. The misgivings, guilt & fear that she had, about starting another relationship, were authentic, realistic and very believable. In taking the relationship slow, I was able to fall in love with Rafe right along with her. She deserved all the happiness she received. Lila & Rob - As expected, their relationship was very tough and, at times, I didn’t know if they were going to make it. The extreme amount of grief, sadness & guilt, over the loss of someone so important to them, was a powerful thing. I thought it would be the straw that broke their back - but I was wrong. They persevered and came out the other side so much stronger for having made it through. As a whole, Escalation Clause was amazing. I sat down to read and didn’t get back up until I was done. It grabbed, consumed and owned me. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, but I wanted to slow down getting to the end. My only complaints are that it felt a little rushed at the end with Maureen & Rafe, and while I loved all the characters, I wish that the main characters were more clearly defined. Since they all played a major role, I became invested and wanted to go deeper into the issues that each couple faced, but I couldn’t. With that being said, I still loved the book and this series will continue to remain one of my favorites and one I recommend to everyone!
