Okay...yes, it's cheesy. Yes, it's like reading the 90210 books in the early 90's. But...it's sooooooo good. If you love Queer As Folk (the TV show), you'll love reading this book about the beginnings of Michael and Brian. The author did a great job of adding a history to the Queer As Folk main characters. It was totally believable (for their lives) and really engrossing. Again, if you love the show...and enjoy it for its guilty pleasures like you probably did with shows like Melrose Place. I was impressed by the author as well. He did a great job of capturing the personalities of the characters, and I could truly hear them speaking the dialogue in my head. This is great light reading for a hot summer day...

If you're a fan of the show you'll love it! A glimpse of teenaged Brian Kinney is worth the price of any book. And the heatache of young Michael! And a tiny blonde surprise!

I loved this book! I read it in less than 5 hours. I couldn't put it down. It's a great compainion to the show or a replacement if you never get to watch it. The steamy sceens in the backroom of Babylon are detailed wonderfully. I totally recommend this to everyone and anyone with an open mind and all who love the show.

I just bought this book (as well as the second book of the series, 'Never Tear Us Apart), less than a day ago and already, I'm hooked. I like the way that the author, Jospeh Brockton, uses present 'references' (i.e., Brian meeting Justin as a little kid, Brian leading the prom in 'Save the Last Dance' just as he did at Justin's prom in the first season). While I was reading this book, I couldn't help but picturing the situations Brian and Michael were in at that period in time, as well as the supporting characters...it almost felt as if I was watching it on TV.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, reading it in one day. Having never missed an episode of QAF, I'm delighted with the overall integrity that Brockton maintains in Michael and Brian's characters. I anxiously await the second story. 'Let's get soakin' wet!'

This is a very good book that will lead the reader to appreciate the friendship of Michael and Brian a little bit more. It's got humor, surprises, seriousness, and since Brian is in it, sex. Definitely worth the read!

I absolutely loved this book. Im totally addicted to the QAF series on tv, so i just had to read this novel. This book takes you back to the late 80's, where Michael and Brian are about to attend prom, and soon graduate. It gives you insight into there friendship from before the tv series started. I reccomend this book to anyone who watches QAF. Trust me, its well worth the time to read!!!!

I am a huge QAF fan and I was dying to pick up this book. When I finally bought it, I couldn't put it down!! I read it in less than a day. I love the storyline and the fact that I now know more about the characters Michael and Brian than the show told. It goes back in time from before the show actually started. If you like the showtime series QAF then you'll love this book. It tells about the long friendship between Brian Kinney and Michael Novotny and their adventures together as best friends when they are in their late teen years. It takes you through the time warp from their high school prom, their high school graduation and even the first major sexual experiences of Michael Novotny. I reccommend this book to anyone who has or has not seen the show and I can't wait for the next book of the series to be released!!

The Good: I gave this four stars because I love QAF, and I did like this glimpse into the younger characters. And there was a lot of good stuff in here. However, it could have been written better. The style seems to fluctuate.

There's absolutely nothing to recommend this badly written book. The writer just runs through a list of happenings with no passion. There are no insights or revelations, no new light is shed on the QAF characters, and the sex scenes are too mechanical to even make this book good brainless fun.

'Every Nine Seconds' is a must read for any Queer as Folk fan. It gives you a glimpse into the past of the lives of Brian and Michael as they become young men. You can almost picture the scenes and hear their voices. From the very beginning you know this is a friendship that will outstand and overcome anything. A++++++ I can't wait for the next one! =)

It was well written and explains the relationship between Michael and Brian even better. The book gives good insight into the past and goes well with the series. It is totally worth reading.

This book is great. Marvelous! It really brings you closer to the show. I love it. Their relationship is so real; when you're reading it, you feel like it's part of our world, it feels so real. I love the show and I love the book!!!!
