Faith
No one wakes up one day and says, "I think I'll join a cult today!" This novel is about three teenage girls who become best friends when they join a fundamentalist church in the early 1970's. This church is different from any they ever attended, and promises them hope, safety, love, and salvation. What they experience will challenge their faith in ways they never expected. Learn what happens to each of them.

This novel is based on true experiences, and has been written to help those who've been abused in a church environment, and those who wonder how it happens. Exploitation in the name of God occurs more often than most realize, and varies in severity and degree, negatively impacting the victims.
Originally published in 2008, the novel has been updated. There is an additional section from the author, as well as information on how to identify a cult. A special suggested Book Club Questions section has added at the end.

About the Author

Mary Ellen Humphrey, M.Ed., for over twenty years has written and published under the Lynxfield Imprint nonfiction books, mainstream and speculative novels, memoirs, and even a poetry collection. Her first book, Out of Season, was published in 1997 by Audenreed Press in Brunswick, Maine. Part 1 of her historical fiction book, Norumbega, won 2nd place prize from Helmsman Magazine, May 1995, under the title The Pirates of Casko Bay.
Among her nonfiction works are a book about the impeachment trial of the NH Supreme Court Chief Justice, a trial in which she was a sitting state senator and participant. Later she wrote a spoof on the NH Statehouse titled Politics & Poltergeists. While serving in the NH legislature from 1994 to 2000, she produced The Rule Book, 1996, that the speaker’s office continues to reprint and distribute to newly elected representatives to this day.
Mary Ellen’s first published short story, The Warning, (Fate Magazine Marc 1994) was later included in the production of a TV series, Angel Stories, by Cascom Productions, and aired for several seasons on the Learning Channel at Easter time.
Faith is the novel Mary Ellen felt compelled to write, fictionalizing her cult experience as a teenager in the 1970’s. She also published an article in Adolescence Magazine, July 1994, about how to identify and help young people trapped in cult-type organizations.
Write from your heart is her motto. She resides in New York and enjoys her full time immersion in the writing and publishing world. www.LynxfieldPubishing.com
