Overview

This book is refreshingly different because the stories were conceived and narrated by a four year old child. They feature a deer and a snake bowling, tigers boarding airplanes, and bison playing soccer. They are just stories made up by a child as part of normal growing up. However improbable these are, they seem to appeal to other similar aged kids.

The common themes are friends helping each other, creative solutions for uncommon problems, and outwitting enemies.

There are eight stories accompanied by one or more color illustrations for each.

How did jaguars and tigers end up at a dinner table? How did Dr. Pelican save the seagull chick? How did the fox's plan fail? How did the popsicle end up at the bottom of the sea? What did the deer and snake do when the lions were approaching? How did the snake roll the bowling ball? Kids will love these stories, and adults will find them amusing.

About the Author

Vivek Om Matam is a normal child going to daycare. When, as a four year old, he started making up his own stories based on things he either saw or learned, his parents were amused and listened attentively. When his parents discovered Vivek narrating a story to other kids at daycare and those kids were listening with rapt attention, they realized that the stories held appeal for other four year olds. Hence, they captured these stories in the form of a book.

Vivek narrates many stories, but not every story makes sense. Further, each story is delivered with many variations depending on his mood. His parents have selected some of the stories that hold together like conventional stories. His parents have tried to keep the stories true to the way Vivek narrated them but have had to make a few minor language edits to replace made-up words with common English words. When his parents asked him what he would like to call his book, he said, "Fantastic Stories."
